Gillian and I had the most amazing nights on level 8 in The Union, wearing our cardigans and dancing to The Smiths or Lloyd Cole.

I met the man who would later become my husband while working at Strathclyde. Colleagues quickly became firm friends and were at our wedding! When we bought our first house I soon found out that a former Strathclyde officemate lived in the next street - we now walk our dogs together a few times a week and are good friends :)

I met an amazing group of 'work pals' when we started working at Strathclyde (as teenagers). We've grown up together ❤️

I studied at Strathy, before getting a job here, in 1997. Loads of us are still in touch, from all over the world.

i was at the local strathclyde band society, freshly broken up with and looking for a group to fit in with. this random fat dude showed up, unassuming, and proceeded to heavy metal scream his way through three songs. ended up talking to him afterwards complimenting his singing, and 8 months later, i'm on holiday with him and our friends in the middle of the highlands.

When I first arrived in Glasgow, I attended a speed meet-up for international postgrad students during my first freshers' week. I'd decided to attend a whim, not knowing what to expect. Well, past me made a very good decision as it's there that met my best friend. 5 years down the line and our friendship is still going strong!

I met my Best Friend in the Italian 1AB class. We both started Italian from scratch in our First Year at Strathclyde; we were in different Italian 1B classes so we didn’t know each other in the first term. We did so well in the December exam that we were able to progress to the Italian 1AB class which started in the January of our first year. That then allowed us to sit the Italian 1A exam along with all the students in the standard Italian 1A course who had needed a Higher in Italian to get into that class. We were very proud to continue with our Italian studies to degree level and continued behind that to Postgraduate level. All at Strathclyde. 🥰 🤗 🧡 💚 ♥️ 💟 🇮🇹 We had wonderful teachers: Joe Farrell, Andrew Wilkin and Dr Cocozza 🙏🏽. It was an amazing opportunity, to start Italian from scratch at Uni and leave with a degree in Italian 🙏🏽. Sadly, it is no longer possible to get a degree in Italian at Strathclyde 😔 😞 😢.

I found my true self in the Andersonian library. I quietly studied for my degree and set my life on course for a fulfilling career that made a difference. A quiet corner of the library, when its dark outside, will forever be my happy place
