Students will prepare kind messages (they can also create little objects as presents) that they will give to people who operate behind the scene at school, for example the cleaning ladies, the people who work at the canteen...

Extra help at home

Pupils will help their families (parents, brothers or sisters, grandparents) with extra work in the house, something they are not expected to do, for example, vacuum the floor, water the plants, do the shopping, help with homework, and so on. Not to get some pocket money, just to suprise people and make them smile.

Create Positive Notes (Canva)

Design colorful notes with kind messages using Canva. Write uplifting and encouraging words. Once they’re printed, leave them around your school, on the street, or in other public places for others to find. The goal is to spread joy and positivity!

Take photos of where you’ve placed the messages and leave also your posters on our Canva Kindness Digipad for others to admire them. You’ll brighten someone’s day with your thoughtful surprise! 🙂

Care Package

Students will prepare a care package for teachers, they can put in it simple things that their teachers love like:

[flower, massage of love and appreciation , cup of coffee, piece of cake]

or any thing teachers love and make them happy.

Take one and pass it on

Students prepare an A4 document with positive and very kind sentences. Instructions:

Write in your language on the page "Take one and pass it on" and draw something nice.
At the bottom of the page prepare positive sentences as:
A. Cheer up,
B. You made my day,
C. I'm happy to have you,
D. Thank you,
E. You are the best.
Then you need to cut them to separate the phrases.
When you finish you stick them/hang them on the doors of each classroom at school.
Everyone can take one piece and give to someone/ pass it on.
Wish you a wonderful Kindness Day.

Be kind to the animals

You can be volunteer at a local animal shelter: Many animal shelters rely on volunteers to help care for the animals. You can walk dogs, clean cages, or play with the animals. This is a great way to give back to the community and help animals in need.
You can donate a local animal shelter with food, blankets, toys, etc.
You can help at home to take care of your animals or help to your neighbours

The idea of this kindness challenge is to promote a spirit of solidarity and active citizenship in favor of a more sustainable development, by building “Naninhas” made from reused fabrics for later donation to a hospital (pediatrics)/charity institution for the elderly.

First step - collecting fabrics - that well-worn shirt that no longer fits, pieces of bed sheet, cotton fabrics, leftover jeans, etc.

Second step - sewing workshop - learning to sew by hand and machine.

Third step - creating the “naninha” - selecting the fabrics, tracing and cutting out the different parts (a half-moon pattern will be provided); stuffing and sewing.

We loved the French Challenge, and it inspired on ours: since we’re not great at cleaning our classroom after spending six hours there, we thought the best way to be kind to our school staff would be to leave our classroom very clean every day.

Before Christmas we organized the Collection for the pet shelter at our school. The pupils brought food for the dogs and the cats, the blankets and some toys.

On St. Valentine’s Day, we took a moment to appreciate our cleaners, cooks and caretaker. We gave them heartfelt cards to show how much we value their hard work. A small gesture, but one full of gratitude!

"It was very good feeling when I saw their happiness in their smile. I was scared at first but then it was all good when they got it."

We prepared many activities on that day, the best was "Happy phone booth". Students wanted to be photographed with smiley faces. The next activities was to make a "Kindness tree" make of students hands. On each hand students wrote their positive features. The other activity was to prepare cards with a nice and kind words. We had a school mail and anyone could prepare a cards for someone she/he likes.

And finally, we used tables with positive phrases, they we hung everywhere. We could take one positive phrase and hand out someone we like eg. Cheer up, head up, I like you, I really want to tak you.

We made cards and give them to administration secretaries, to our dean (and she has it now on her board) to our "collaboratori scolastici"

Today I cleaned the dishes and cooked dinner. I almost burned the house down in the process, but it was tasty. Then I went to feed the animals and light the cauldron. Finally, I cleaned my room and then went to play with the dogs a little more.

We have 3 dogs, one goat and 6 dogs. Every day we have to take care of them and feed them. During the summer we have to give them hay which we have to grow and cut ourselves. Over the summer we would move the pigs and goats to the bow because we have a large plot of land.

we have many animals but this lizard is mine he needs to be fed every third day he is given a bowl of worms for nutrition and live crickets for hunting he also has a bowl of water there from which he drinks and sometimes when it is hot he needs to mist the terrarium sometimes I even take him out of the terrarium

Mariasole: I really enjoyed doing the Jordanian challenge. My team and I made a box with inside a cake, some chocolate, a nice note, some pens and some post it. It was very fun! I loved my teachers' reaction they were happy too. I felt very good because they do a lot for us and I think that they deserve some gifts.

Pablo: It was good to see the teachers smile because of the box with gifts we made and gave them.

After six hours at school, pupils were happy to finish the English lesson earlier to have more time to clean up their classroom. It was amazing. Will they be able to do it everyday, even when they will be in other schools? This is our greatest hope!

We finally made the “Naninhas do bem”. After a campaign to collect fabrics at school, the students created their own “Naninhas” to give to the pediatric department at Funchal Hospital. I think the children who use this service will feel much better!!!
