The 5 phases of FNT provides scholars opportunity to revisits their notes. As educators we need to transparently provide opportunities for students to complete all 5 phases and not assume they will do it on their own.

I keep notes for how to run all the features of my car! The repetition of the notes can counteract the loss of learning - Connie Belden

Note taking allows you to continue to engage your brain by taking what you hear and writing it down. It is an active way to participate and process what you hear. It also allows you to jog your memory of those elements that you felt were highlights of the information. - Tina Cone

It is important in FNT for the students to realize how everything is connected. Their brain health is vital. Repetition is a great tool for them to retain more and using the 5 phases will help them organize better. Not everything is important is what I always tell them.

I enjoyed the two videos especially about the brain. I was reminded how our emotions impact us. This pandemic has caused so much stress and anxiety on all of us. Our brains work better when we are happy, when we drink water and exercise, when we do puzzles and read and draw. We have to use repetition and make the time in the classroom to go over the notes for a few minutes.

FNT allows you to revisit the concepts learned and allows one more time to actually learn what they are writing down as notes.
