i picked this book because it is the 4th book of my favorite series the Robert Langdon series and because i like fast paced thrillers. the authors choice of ancient cities with deep history to use as the setting of this book was very good .

the setting of the book starts at a hospital in Florence when the main character wakes up from unconsciousness. a majority of the book is spent in Florence and Venice but there are lots of flashback chapters where it is spent in new York.

Robert Langdon is a professor of symbology at Harvard university he is always referred to as the "professor" and his respected through out the world as a brilliant teacher. His eidetic memory is so strong it seems to be as if it came out of a fairy tale, in this a case a fast paced thriller. it seems to be that he memorizes every single detail that ever happened in his life and it proves to be very useful during such critical times

Sienna Brooks is one of the main characters who befriend Robert Langdon when he wakes from amnesia. She is known to be a child prodigy with an 1q of 208. later on in the book it is revealed that she and the antagonist were in love. she is traumatized by an event that happened many years ago where she was sexually attacked in the phillipines while giving out aid to the poor

in this book every chapter is told in the perspective of one of the characters , usually it changes every chapter. I like this style of writing because the author acts like he is giving us a spoiler but we find out later that that's not the case. in this style of writing you can never be sure whether ur facts about the book are correct.

Conflict

the conflict in this book is between the WHO and a scientist who wants to kill half the population because we need to in order to survive there's really no definite antagonist, if u feel what Bertrand is doing is wrong then he is the antagonist but if u feel its the right thing to do then he is the protagonist.

we find out that the plague has been released and the main revelation occurs. the revelation is that the virus has already been released and the whole world is already infected and one third of the world rendered infertile. the characters seem to accept the fact and move on.
