This challenges gender stereotypes since usually a girl is to remain patient and be polite. So because she has fired an arrow at the game makers was un ladylike.

Stereotypically girls do not fight they stay home and take care of kids. and if they were put into an environment like the hunger games they probably wouldn't hunt they would hide.

Girls do not usually shoot, and this proves that she is not weak and she is going to fight which is not a stereotypical girl

If a girl is to cry people think that they are weak or they get upset easily but by holding back her tears it shows us that she cares about what people think and she doesn't want to be known as weak.

In movies women are stereotypically portrayed as being weak, but in this instance Katniss stands up to the people in charge and shows bravery.

Women are stereotyped as loving to wear dresses and high heels but Katniss never wears them and hates it.

This shows that Katniss is a very good hunter, and stereotypically women are not as good hunters as men, but Katniss is the best hunter that Gale knows.

This breaks the female stereotype as Katniss would not run away, she would defend herself and not be afraid. This is challenging the gender stereotype as women are not hunters and don't go out and provide for the family. This is usually the man's job. Women are stereotyped as not getting messy in the forest and stays at home.

-This reveals how Katniss challenges gender stereotypes as she says how she finds hair ribbons and rainbows, and even music completely useless and not important. While gender stereotypes may say the exact opposite.
