This module was a great introduction to the class. We learned about the art of research and how there is a systematic approach that needs to be followed to start a sucessful research process.

The Banerji video was a great insight as to what I have often overlooked such as:

*Research means- to search again... continuously!

sensory (extend our senses)- can't ignore our senses

pure-focus on understanding

applied- aims to use the knowledge

practical-how everything works

I also learned the importance of being unbiased throughout the construction of my paper .

subjectivity-personal feelings/opinions/bias

objectivity-unbiased

Everything Banerji said and addressed in the videos, I found valuable and important to have known and essential to this process.

This module allowed us to explore academic articles in a specified area of interest that focused on something of interest in the library.

The topic I chose to explore was: The Presence of a Certified School Librarian/Library in Relation to/ Impacting Student Performance/Achievment.

This I felt was an important module because the purpose was to find articles we could use as sources. I was able to explore Newton Gresham and utilize engine orange as necessary with filtered topics. I also used the "Ask a Librarian" tool which was also a great help if you were specific enough and not pressed for time as it can be a tedious process. I was grateful to have learned these tips and tricks in my previous courses! I also liked that I was exposed to more databases like Eric, which I had never heard of!

It was alot of work, but necessary in a sense that it forces us to read and helps us narrow down what is needed to support our research with examples, statistics, and a variety of studies.

I also felt the annotated bibliography was a great way to learn which sources are valid and which would be included to use throughout the research proposal. It helps getting this done right away and being able to include some portions of it as a reference page.

This module was by far the most INFORMATIVE and I was very glad it was included in this class. I also feel it is important enough to be a class of its own! Grant writing can be a very overwhelming process, and to be quite honest, I still feel like I needed to learn more in this area. I do like that we were given the option to write a grant proposal or a research proposal, but I feel research papers have been written enough to a certain degree in every course leading up to this one.

A Grant writing class would be essential to include in this program to be the sole focus of. Rockis made this learning process clear and concise. It was also very eye opening in a sense that there is alot to this process than we give it credit. I found it amazing that she has a structured and organized method that works if one utilizes it correctly and concisely.

This module I found to be quite confusing. I don't think I had ever paid attention to a literature review the way I did here. I was forced out of my comfort zone and challenged to this task. The video that was used to help aid in this process was a great example, but for some reason it just wasn't sticking. I think I was confused the most about the structure of the literature review itself. I felt alot of this was redundant information.

However, after stepping away for a few days and allowing myself to really watch the video and comparing my resources, I eventually figured out what to do.

This is a foundational portion of the research process because I am able to make the connections I need necessary in order to fit it into my work and realizing where I may need more research.

I personally felt I needed more depth in this section to not feel as lost as I did during this process.

This module focused on the Methods section and the variety of research methods that could be used to conduct research.

Including this into a study would give more depth to any area of interest chosen to study. It shows the actual process taken (or would have) and the tools used throughout. This section carries alot of the "meat" considering you gather and analyze all the data to include.

This also lays out a visual process or outline that others can use to trust and understand your findings through proof.

Types of methods:

interviews

focus groups

observations

quantative methods: surveys & experiments

mixed methods- a combination of both or all

I thought this entire process was long and tedious, but in a GOOD and methological way that I truly found alot of value in. I always thought that I had a set way to teach research and I was sadly mistaken! There was so much more to learn and there were so many boundaries that I had never crossed! I'm so glad I was exposed to a variety of avenues to explore throughout the process.

I am able to look back and redefine the method to which I approach research in my own classroom.

Research proposal- What I was able to construct and gather on my own.

feedback-reviewing research from that of a peer and gaining insight from proposed feedback was possibly my FAVORITE! I always enjoy reading someone else's paper and making connections as I constructed my own. Even comparing allows me to learn and gain insight to another persons thoughts and ideas to their specified area of interest.

Amended- Putting everything into perspective and learning and adding constructively for the best representation of my study is the most rewarding of this process!
