After receiving a diploma in nursing you can work as a nurse, but the diploma is not synonymous with a college degree. Another pathway is an associate's degree. This process takes only 2 years and is generally for people wanting to take the fast track into nursing. One can also go the route of achieving a bachelor's degree in nursing. The process of earning a BSN is slightly longer, as it takes 4 years to complete.
