This is a summative assessment and is often presented in periodic time frame. The student's performance is usually measured through comparison of the class average or norms. It is a good way for the teachers and parents to learn the student's academic intelligence compared to same-age students and it gives a single score which can easily be compared with student's prior scores as well.

Examples) Benchmarking assessment every year, level tests, or standard evaluation.
