This is the shared space that we will use to collect our observations and findings from Phase 1.

Not sure what to do? No worries, Read pages 26 - 37 of the Design Thinking for Educators Toolkit to get some ideas. Find a partner and go collect some information that will help us move to Phase 2.

I met with Rick Biggerstaff this week and he gave me some ideas about how and why he uses both Khan Academy and ck12.org in his Math & Physics courses at Mead HS as if they were his "co-teacher"

This allows him to offload content delivery/feedback/assessment to his co-teacher (technology) so he can personalize and differentiate more effectively.

Having a co-teacher gives him access to lots of personalized time with kids where he can respond to their needs, build relationship with them, and support them in developing skills to learn stuff on their own (with his support)

He uses some of this extra time to build student collaborative/discourse experiences centered around "problems of the week," projects, and student passion explorations, all focused on the SMP.

My favorite part is how he structures and starts his class. Imagine kids coming into class and getting right to work on THEIR learning. "What are you working on today? How can I help?"
