I am entering my second full year of teaching at Peachtree Ridge High School, following a few years being an instructor at the collegiate level. After graduating from PRHS back in 2013, I attended the University of Georgia to study religion before going on to earn a PhD in Arts, Religion, and Literature from UGA. Throughout those programs, I studied a lot about how people use literature to think about their identity and their connections to others. Those areas also sparked my passion for teaching, which brought me back to the Ridge. In addition to teaching AP Literature and Composition, I am also the sponsor of National English Honor Society and I am happy to help students learn more about the opportunities there.

Each week students discuss and engage in a variety of writing and spoken activities focusing on the analysis of characters, setting, plot, narrator, word choice, and argumentation. Students will read and study a variety of novels, poems, and short stories from Antiquity to the Present. We will pay attention to both how authors develop complex thought through literary devices like word choice, but also how the life of literature shapes our experience and impacts culture. Students can expect to develop sophisticated interpretations, strengthen their writing skills, and engage in critical creative thought.
