The unique thing about my IB situation is related to the school. This school is quite new, being built in 2018 by Indonesian air force foundation (the armies’ wives). Although it was built around 2 years ago, this school has commitment to be an IB school that facilitates the students to have IB learner profile.

The school has a vision to be a reputable institution at the international level by embracing national culture to create national leaders who have aerospace insight. Aerospace doesn’t mean that all the students need to be in military, instead they are expected to have aerospace minded – like 

2. Teaching developed in local and global contexts

3.  Teaching focused on conceptual understanding

4. Teaching focused on effective teamwork and collaboration

5. Teaching designed to remove barriers to learning

6. Teaching informed by assessment (formative and summative)

 

For me, ‘teaching based on inquiry’ is the most important aspect in the teaching and learning process. I believe that the students can be more engaged to the lesson when they are interested into the subjects. I think, internal motivation has a major impact on the way the materials mastered. It is also important for teachers to connect the school materials with the context both locally and globally. In this way, it leads the students to think critically on a subject.

I put ‘teaching informed by assessment’ as the least important because although assessment plays important part in checking the students’ progress, some students may start thinking about their score, not the process getting the score.
