The horrible and unlivable conditions of slavery really did help lead to the civil war because the way the slaves were treated, punished and how they worked were very harsh and brutal.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act was not successful because the South did not like that the North was making compromises over slavery. The North and the South disagreed. Kansas and Nebraska had to decide whether or not to permit slavery or not but those were supposed to be free states. Due to this, conflict enraged. 800 proslavery settlers ransacked Lawrence and due to that the Battle of Black Jack and the Battle of Osawatomie occurred.

The South believed in Slavery, and the North not much so, unless they made profit from the slave plantations in the South. All of this resulted in the Civil War.
