A symbol for sacrifice would be Hassan. I say this because Hassan was a kind of sacrifice in order for Amir to obtain the kite that he wanted and Hassan is like the sheep that is sacrificed. So in all, Hassan is the truest symbol of sacrifice since he had to get raped to get the kite. "Maybe Hassan was the price I had to pay the lamb I had to slay to win baba." This quote is saying that he had to give up Hassan in order to get what he wanted in life.

A sin of theft would be the rapes that occured. Do the fact that the situation didn't steal anything materialistic from but it took their dignity from there which would much more devestating then taking money or something of the sort because by taking away their dignity your taking away the way they are and completely changing them all entirely. "His pants... doesn't talk anymore just stares." This quote is saying that the rape took a toll on the victim by having the rape cause the victim to change the way he is.

"I thought about Hassan's dream, the one about us swimming in the lake. There is no monster, he'd said, just water. Except he'd been wrong about that.

There was a monster in the lake. It had grabbed Hassan by the ankles, dragged him to the murky bottom. I was that monster."

Amir's guilt drives mostly through the book because of what had happened to Hassan at the time where Amir could have done something to prevent Hassan from getting raped. So the symbol in the book of guilt is seeing Hassan on a daily basis.

A symbol that had two meanings in the story would be the pomegranate tree. I chose this symbol because the tree represents relationships because Amir and Hassan have a lot of history with the tree and shows their friendship. Also shows power in between the two because after Hassan was raped Amir was guilty and used the tree as power against Hassan repeatedly harassing Hassan with pomegranates calling him a coward. Overall Hassan did not do anything since he has the guiless devotion to Amir showing that Amir has the power.
