Tris decides to be the first to jump off the roof into the big pit. She becomes very frightened when she sees the giant pit in the middle of the roof. However, she decides to keep going because she doesn't want to look like a coward. :) She took a responsible risk to get through that part of initiation.

Tris is standing at the edge of the train, the wind blowing in her face. Should she jump, Or become factionless? She should jump. She holds christina's hand and reaches the roof with barely any scratches. She took a risk that was worth taking. She used taking responsible risks to get her through her first part of initiation.

Persisting

Tris is climbing the ferris wheel. She is at the top now. Her legs ache, the wind is cold, and she is scared. Her heart is racing. As she climbs down, a step on the ferris wheel brakes. She has to persiste to hang on until Four can save her.
