         <description><![CDATA[<p>Araminta Ross was born in Dorchester County, Maryland and is the daughter of Harriet Green Ross and Ben Ross. She grew up as a slave cleaning the house her owners lived until one day at the age of 13 her owner was furious at Araminta and he hurled a lead weight at her and suffered a head injury that almost killed her. </p>]]></description>

Later after when her slave owner died she escaped because she was supposed to be sold for $100 in her capture. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>At this time free slaves from the North could be captured and be enslaved so when Harriet Tubman was helping other slaves escape she had to lead them farther north so they wouldn't get recaptured. She also met other fellow abolitionists who helped her spread out the word to end slavery.</p>]]></description>
