For me the word globalization sparks the ideas of a unified world where sharing, communicating, experiencing and everything in between is as quick as the snap of a finger. Through the use of technology people around the world can share and have access to so much more than ever before so much quicker than ever before. With globalization comes great benefits in many facets of life from the economy to technology and accessibility in general but also disadvantages for countries other than those global powers.

The question arises whether the islands of the Caribbean are in fact enslaved or whether they choose to follow. In my opinion the Caribbean as a region has always been highly influenced and is made up of different people from many different places. Its music, dance , food and almost everything that is unique about it came from a fusion or by inspiration from a different culture, country or region. Continuing to be shaped we ask, what would the Caribbean be without the influences of the global world. Not to say or insinuate that the Caribbean is so highly influenced it would not be but to say that its history and nature are as a result of influence. The release from this influence would and could leave behind a simple and unevolved society stuck in the ways of the elders of the nation. Where globalization influenced not only the nation but specifically the youth of the nation.

From my experience and the travels I have taken myself, the Caribbean is a unique and beautiful place made up of many different people who live so unified compared to others. Flawed like any other place plagued with crime in many of the islands with racial division in countries like Trinidad and Guyana. But yet, like many others, I wouldn't want to live or be from anywhere else.

Youth in every nation are important and at some point would become the elders. In today's world are the most influenced by this concept of globalization through technology and social media. The powers of the world have the greatest influence on social media because of their shear size and population size in that. Large populations with many people sharing their norms and views can appear to sway the crowds where minorities are left in the shadows with their beliefs. Publicizing views especially on social media is a risky bet where one dissatisfied candidate can sway a crowd. But aside from that social media creates a platform for the global powers to express their culture through music and dance and so become influential in their sharing and the spread of its popularity. In this, how could one blame the youth for being influenced. To say that Caribbean beliefs and culture can be spread to the masses this way in the presence of the widely accepted and publicized views of the global powers is unlikely.

Through music and culture, the Caribbean has placed some influence on the world. Spreading their songs, food and unique views but has this been through social media, word of mouth or the wide number of Caribbean people in the diaspora. The Caribbean diaspora, made up Caribbean people living abroad in some of the global powers carrying their Caribbean identity , their habits, their foods and spreading the beauty of the Caribbean. Their contribution to globalization is not necessarily profound but whether a mother sending barrels for her children or family who regularly visit who come bearing gifts from the "1st world" to the "3rd world", toys, clothes and everything "more advanced" and unavailable in their own islands. We see rising stars from the Caribbean in reggae more so than any other genre. Caribbean influences of pan heard as beats in hip hop music and Caribbean artists being featured. Popular artists with Caribbean roots embracing and being proud of their heritage and mentioning the names of their countries in their songs informing people.

Around the world, some countries influence others where a few have a much greater influence than others. Within the Caribbean however the influence is great and plays a part in the factors which shape its identity through linguistics and sexual orientation classifications. The language expressed by the Caribbean's youth is greatly influenced by social media and the global powers specifically the United States. Through music and the social following of celebrities' word popularized in the United States are quickly picked up by Caribbean youth. Sexual orientation classifications in the Caribbean traditionally influenced by religion and the church now pushed by the global view and influence. The inclusion of gay rights in the Caribbean although liked by some was largely protested against but still proceeded and prevailed. Why regardless of large protests this still prevailed? It could be the result of global influence and the need to " keep up with the times" or the need to share the same views as those global powers. The need to
'be on their side" to hold their favour to reap the benefits and receive reward.

When the ancestors of today's Caribbean people came to settle, most imagined a life of pain and turmoil from their arrival during the periods of encomienda, slavery and indenturship those brought during those periods were forced to call this new place home as they were now disconnected from their homelands and in some cases had no way to return. Others settled afterward as they searched from new homes for their families. Today, Caribbean people still move and shift, some newly Caribbean and some Caribbean born who move and settle in global power countries. With all this movement, the dynamics of the Caribbean change. Walking through the cities people can often hear different languages and accents as though the countries have become a hub. desires to enter by some and desires to leave by others.

Globalization most widely affects economies around the world providing benefits through business relations. Caribbean economies widely benefit from globalization as multinational companies enter into the Caribbean and create jobs. With these jobs come more revenue into the economies, people are now able to provide for themselves and their families. In crisis however, it is often so easy for these multinational companies to pull out, to take advantage or to just leave the countries with no ties and no remorse. So I ask this, who's best interest do they really seek. The benefits of globalization when it comes to economies are all but a hoax to somewhat control and economically lead the world where just like the colonial powers seeked power through gaining colonies so these multinational companies of global nations make their mark on the world and gain power but opening companies in other countries and spreading their franchises around the world swooping in and draining the revenue from the countries as for the most part I'm sure the revenue gained much out ways the wages paid to those who obtained jobs.

Through the internet people around are able to share news and communicate where meetings can occur with people from countries on opposite sides of the world and news can be shared rapidly. In this all so many countries benefit and people benefit as they are able to visit different countries and explore new places much more easily than before. They are able to share memories with their families who may live else where or conduct business in a different country. In the Caribbean , one country can benefit from another through trading and the sharing of ideas and technology which can be beneficial to another

Now expanded trade moved from commodity goods to other goods where it is hard for Caribbean islands , at their small size, to compete on the global market with large producers in larger countries. These countries are able to produce much larger quantities for much cheaper prices. As a result imported goods run the markets of so many Caribbean countries costing a lot less than those locally produced goods.
