This song is an open letter to the former President of the USA, George W. Bush. It criticizes the Iraq war, the homeless, the rights for homosexuals and the unfair treatment of the poor and the rich. I love the song because she speaks truth to power with a sweet melody and never saying the name of the President, which makes it altogether extremely ironic. Unfortunately, it still applies today. Watch the second video to see that the year 2020 is quite similar. We are currently ending year 2023 and things haven't changed that much either.
The more things change, the more they stay the same! Different lyrics, equal complaints: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSneatadSJk

In 1984, musician and activist Harry Belafonte had the idea of organising a benefit concert to raise funds to fight hunger in Africa.
The original song was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
In the performance featured them plus 41 other artists such as Steve Wonder, Diana Ross, Bob Dylan, Cyndi Lauper, Ray Charles and Tina Turner.
With the money raised by making this song they helped hungry people in africa.
From my point of view that they made this song is a very good to be able to help other people.
I like it because my parents listened to it at home and because it's very exciting to see so many important people trying to help people without resources.

Alba G

Is a big criticism and she wants us to realize about that.
She talks about how she would improve in this world and in the indutry if she had been a man insted of a woman and how would be her life, in ther opinion easier. Just not carering about simple thing like our clothes if they are "correct" for example.
I thing that it's totally true what she expresses in that song and that, although we are not in the bad conditions that were before, nowadays there's not an equality yet.

ELENA

The song was released in 2020, for the Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis.

In the song, Lil Baby reflects on the black community's fight against oppression and racial discrimination. It also addresses issues like economic inequality, mass incarceration, and the need for social change. The song has become an anthem in the social justice movement.

Personally, I really like this song, I believe that makes you reflect and I totally agree with what he says.

This song by the music group Queen is a protest for the freedom to break the rules and act as you want, being yourself. To do things the way you feel, and above all to be free.
In the video clip of the song, Freddy Mercury appears dressed as a woman, doing housework and another member of the group, who also appears dressed as a woman, is sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper. With these images, they want to break with the roles of "women" and "men".

I chose this song because I think that nowadays, not all people do the things they like to do for fear of what others will say. Unfortunately, nowadays, what is different is not accepted by everyone, and everything that is supposed to break the "female" and "male" roles is not accepted by everyone.

In my opinion, this song has all the reasons, because society considers that it is considered wrong for men to dress in "women's clothes" and women in "men's clothes", and we should be free to dress the way we want and do what we feel.

QUIONIA

This song is seen as a response to global tragedies such as the 9/11 attacks and the American invasion of Iraq in March 2003. Moreover, the group's three rappers addressed the lyrics to speak out on issues including terrorism, racism, gang crime, pollution, war, intolerance, and violence. They even mention how our selfishness and money are leading us away from unity and criticize how the media distorts and manipulates information to keep us divided. So, they ask God to send us some guidance.

In my opinion, the song spreads a message that, although it seems too simple and obvious, it is the reason for all this chaos in the world (the lack of values, love and fairness that our society should have to keep united).

Where is the love? That’s the key, I hope we find it somewhere to unlock a better society.

IBTIHAL

Oliver Anthony wanted to share his opinion about our society, talking a bit more on how our economy and politic power distribute.

Oliver Anthony since he was a child wanted to buy a farm to live a simple life. But through different injustices, he started realizing that it wasn't as easy as it seemed to be.

From that realization, he started to think about all the injustice there is in our society and made this song, protesting about how powerful are the rich and how meaningless are the rest.

Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire is an energetic protest song against the political and social situation of its time, the 1960s. McGuire condemns the Vietnam War, the arms race, racism, inequality, and societal hypocrisy. The lyrics warn that the world is on the brink of destruction due to these issues and call for reflection and action to avert an imminent catastrophe. The song reflects the concerns and discontent of the 1960s generation with the state of the world and their desire for significant change.

Raúl C

It is very famous but not recognized as a protest song.

I've chosen this song because I think that with famous singers like Gaga it is easier to be listened by the people and change a lot of things.

Raúl Fernández.
