Shays wanted to alter government because it was not meeting the citizens’ needs. The government did not pay him for his service and now they wanted to take his land away because he couldn’t pay his taxes.

Today, we see protests in the United States for rights for equality, to change government and for our climate. We had a group, on January 6, 2021,that wanted to alter or abolish the government. The day started as a protest and ended in an insurrection by the group wanting to change what they believe was a fraudulent presidential election. The group wanted to stop the vote by the Electoral College.

Sometimes these protests have gotten really violent and I don't think they should ever happen again. However, I don't really think the government will listen unless some people resort to violence, which is a really big flaw in the government. In summary, I think that American citizens should be able to protest and express their opinions to the government without resorting to violence.
