I chose mixed media (fine-line drawing and watercolor) because it allowed me to emphasize the necessary elements, particularly through the contrast between delicate linework and bold, fluid colour. These choices support my concept by emphasizing the spider lilies, while the fractured facial features, skull imagery, and red floral forms reinforce themes of death. Important visual decisions include my use of color, fine-line for the monotone part whilst watercolor plays the emphasis part which shapes how the viewer interprets the central figure and surrounding symbols.

This piece connects to the work of Trong Lee, especially in the use of his mixed media, which parallels his approach to vibrant compositions that blend past and present. This contextual influence introduced how I balanced beauty with unease.
