I ended up getting on the roof and putting Christmas lights on the roof. During this experience I was extremely scared the entire time because I have a fear of ladders. I am not afraid of heights but only ladders because I fell off one about two years ago. I was very cold while putting the Christmas lights on the roof because it was almost freezing outside. This was a very long and boring process because we were having trouble reading the schematic that the church gave me and my friend before we started to go to work. I forgot to take pictures the first time I was there but luckily they let me come back and replace lights that were not working. The next place that I volunteered at and accumulated nearly four hour was 4:34 ministries. Here a was able to serve meals to the homeless of Harrison County. I was not able to take many pictures because they would not let me. While I was volunteering here it really opened my eyes to the real world and what could happen if you make one mistake in life.  Finally I volunteered at the local goodwill in Corydon Indiana for my final two hours. This was very boring and I had no clue what to do half the time but here me and my good friend had to purge the shelves. When they said we were going to purge the shelves I had no clue what they meant by purge the shelves. I also learned that there so many opportunities to volunteer in our community. I didn’t even know that you could volunteer at the Goodwill before Monday when I was trying to find somewhere to complete my ten hours. I also learned that friends are the best to have. During my community service work my friend Julia who used to go to this school did all ten hours with me since I didn’t want to volunteer alone. She was more than glad to do so even though she doesn’t go to Floyd Central High School anymore and she doesn’t need any service hours at her current school. I think that this community service project is important. By doing this project you are taking people and making them more mature. This project makes you understand more on how the real world works. I think that this community service project should be implemented into all the government classes because your not just doing the community service and being done. You are making the students think about their service hours more and not just going through the motions. I think my favorite part about volunteering was the new people that you meet and the friendships that get stronger or the new ones that you are making along the journey. To volunteer in your community is something that not many people do everyday because of the amount of things people have going but I encourage each and everyone of you to volunteer in you community. Even if it’s only for an hour. Every hour counts when you are helping your community become stronger as a whole.
