I am able to come into the building with a true sense of helping facilitate a welcoming environment. The welcoming environment I am now a part of allows for the children to have a safe space to learn and be together with other children. Many of these children do not have a welcoming environment in their homes, so ASONI addresses this by being there for each child. This is also seen within every teacher at ASONI, they have open office doors and I have seen many children run up to teachers to talk to them. They explain the word of God to them as a resource to turn to when they need help in their lives. They also use God as a model person to guide the children into being a good person. I have seen those who act out within classroom settings get reminded to be like God because he does not fight with their peers, like they may be doing. This redirection allows students to act in a better way in a religiously set role model, God. This is a common example where the children are able to understand greatly because they are taught in believing in God. Many of the children come from homes and areas where life isn't all that great, it is challenging for many students especially those of a young age. Those at ASONI find that many children may only have 1 meal a day in their homes. Their solution is to supply full meals for the children. These meal times are also beneficial for each child to receive time with their peers and teachers. When I sit down and aid the children with their meals they are happy to speak with me while I also teach them table manners during their meals. These portions of my day have a very important impact on the children because of how much time is put into it with the kitchen staff and the many teachers. While I am in the preschool-age classrooms I find that they have a wonderful respectful attitude to their teachers and listen to their rules. Although ASONI is not a "school" all the children come to learn something! They assure to apply topics that are beneficial to their ages and for their development. The children in the preschool class get to explore different toys that they perhaps don't have at home. These toys are found in every classroom and this is because ASONI allows them to have this comfort no matter their age. I find myself truly soaking up information like a sponge while navigating myself in a cross-cultural mindset. This mindset allows me to understand how Religion is allowed in a school setting and can be the base of a program in a positive manner. While this could not be completely possible in the United States, at least all encompassed into one building/one program. I also can understand the association's connections with their students greatly because of my own experiences within other internships or other jobs. I understand my own position currently assisting these teachers and helping their students as someone to have information poured into.
