I do think that Oedipus was a good leader. He was doing everything that he knew to do to help his people. The problem was that FATE was working against him. He did not even know about the prophecy that he would kill his father and marry his mother, so it was not technically his fault.

I would describe Oedipus as clueless because he doesn't really know the whole situation and what's actually going on. In the end my impression really doesn't change because it's still the fact that none of the situation is his fault.

Oedipus becomes angry at Tiresias and lashes out at him. He is confused, and he doesn't want to believe that he has committed these terrible sins. I understand why he was angry, but none of this was really Tiresias' fault. He is just telling what he knows-- and for the record, he did try to dodge the subject several times.

Oedipus is shocked that Teiresias told him that it was him who killed his father, he claims that we would never do such a thing. Oedipus thinks that Teiresias is telling lies and doesn't believe him.

Teiresias was very reluctant at first to admit who committed the murder of the King. "Aye, for ye all are witless, but my voice Will ne'er reveal my miseries-or thine". Once Oedipus got fed up he blurted that if Teiresias does not admit who committed the murder, then he would charged guilty for the death of the king. Teiresias did not want that so he finally told the truth about the murder of the king.

Tireseas knows that FATE is inevitable. One cannot avoid it. He realizes that Oedipus didn't really have a choice in what he did because he was destined to do it. He doesn't want to tell him the truth because at this point, he probably fears for his life. He knows that the only way for the land to be saved is for Oedipus to die or be exiled.

I think that Oedipus is a good ruler who cares about his people. He is legitimately trying to help them by uncovering the truth. Oedipus is a victim of FATE. He had no control over the situation. I can totally understand why he would not want to accept the truth of what he has done.

My impression of him does not change at all because he tried with all his might to try to find out who did it and he knew Teiresias knew something so he was just wanting him to tell him. Everyone has there up and downs but we would want to find out who did this and we would have the same exageration has Oedipus if we got told that we did it, so no my impression has not changed of him from the begining and end.

Oedipus's reaction can relate to anypone if they were in that situation, because what child would believe they killed their own father. Oedipus was very shocked and confused of what Teiresias had told him, he called him a vile slander and offending him for saying such a thing.

Oedipus is smart and brave, but his impression in the beginning made me think, he wouldn't kill his father but as Teiresias's claims went on, I began to get disturbed by Oedipus's actions. At the end, when Oedipus realizes what he did, my impression of him kind of changed. Oedipus was innocent and clueless at the beginning but at the end he was in the wrong.

Oedipus is a very good leader, for his people he wanted to find the reason why the plague struck and how they could get rid of it. Once the sphinx said that he had to find the murderer of the King, Oedipus scurried to find the person responsible. Oedipus already being a King, praised a nobody,Teiresias how good he was with his works, meaning he was very desperate finding the cure to the plague to save his people.

I think that anyone that is willing to beg/praise someone to figure out the plot has the heart and skill to be a leader. Oedipus was willing to beg Teiresias for his help to figure out who executed the king. Moreover; I think that someone like Oedipus would make a good leader. Oedipus is a very leader since he took the investigation quite seriously and wanted to find the cure to the plague, not caring about the cause. I still think he is a good man since he married his own mother not even knowing it was his mother. It was hard to admit that he was the one who murdered his own father, the king to the townsfolk. It must have been very hard for him to accept it, but in the end he was a good leader and came to his senses for his people.
