forest. I never did a walk like I did today. And the end of the path was still more fantastic: Lying in this hot pool and talking with all the other participants was another great experience.
Our 7th session's topic is the lifelong learning. It's my task to think about the 5th key competence which is "learning to learn". Besides other skills a positive thinking is necessary for this. Of course you know why this must be done. But walking and climbing through the forest - our classroom today - makes me feel the necessity to save this beautiful places. 

To be able to protect something effectively you must have the key competences to do that. The rainforest with all its sounds, smells, wetness, animals and vegetation was something difficult to explain with words. The relaxing bath in hot water has been fantastic. Hiking to get there was really the worth. My first time in rainforest and so many things I could'nt imagine! Thanks, Rita!
The part of the visit to the Rhum distillerie was very interesting too. All the explanations of the process to obtain the Guadaloupe's Rhum was there. I enjoyed a lot with the plants, birds, waterfalls (Chutes de Carbet) and the good company ... At the end as reward an unforgettable swim in a natural pool of hot water, taking advantage of this moment to reflect on Nature and the need to help to conserve it as much as possible so that our children can inherit it in the best conditions.
Rainforests are often called the "lungs of the planet" and it's true ... But Humans are the main cause of rainforest destruction ... Rainforests are also threatened by climate change provoked by our civilization.

These beautiful places are precious secrets that you can only learn about from the local residents. This led me to think about how many other things there may be that we can only learn from the inhabitants of different countries. This is why international work is so very important.
 
By looking in-depth at one of the key competences of international work (communication in foreign languages) I was able to think and plan carefully how I can integrate this into my future teaching.

Visiting the beautiful rainforests of Guadeloupe. I very much enjoyed observing and walking around in this natural environment . Back at school we are currently doing a key action 2 project called, ‘Thinking Allowed’. This year we are focusing on mindfulness and soon we will be taking the pupils on an outing called ‘mindfulness in the woods’. This trip gave me the opportunity to think about how we can encourage the pupils to simply take in the beautiful colours and plants in their surroundings and just feel in the present moment. From discussions with the other teachers I was able to come up with a range of activities that would be ideal for this visit. 

My task then was to look more closely at one of the key competences; ‘communication in mother tongue’. I plan to ensure that the pupils in my class are regularly having the opportunities to hear these languages spoken within my classroom. I would love to invite some of the parents in, on a weekly basis, to read traditional children’s stories to the class, in their various home languages.
