My first impression of "The Great Gatsby" is that the book will have Nick determining where he will stand on certain world views. During dinner in the first chapter, everyone was trying to get him to think a different way and I believe this is foreshadowing a struggle against the world for Nick.

I can very much agree on your perspective in the beginning of the novel. i feel as if Nick is one who can see over anyone's mistakes and is that one person who is going to be real and honest with Gatsby.

I agree, Gatsby tried to impress Daisy with his wealth and extravagant parties. They didn't truly love each other. Many people knew Gatsby because of his material possessions, rather than a personal relationship, which is why only a few people showed up to his funeral.

My first impression of The Great Gatsby was honestly complex. I felt drawn to the story, but I was confused until I read further. Likewise, a few of the characters changed for me in the ways that I liked or disliked them. Daisy and Gatsby for example. At first, like most, I was very drawn to Daisy. She was captivating and very interesting to me. This made me take a liking to her. But as I've read further, and I see all the tension between Tom, Gatsby, and Daisy, not to mention the outcome in the end, and I realize that a big problem is Daisy herself. It's what makes Gatsby ironic to me, because he never thinks he's worthy of the things he reaches for, but Daisy was the unworthy one of Gatsby. In the same way, at first, I was uninterested by Gatsby and I didn't like him much. Then I read more and Gatsby is still one of my favorite characters. I can really see why Nick was so drawn to Gatsby.

I agree that Nick Carraway, the Yale alumnus, a young man from the West, was the narrator of the novel The Great Gatsby, who goes to live on the coast to fulfill his economic promises, On the one hand, Nick is attracted to the fast-paced, fun-driven lifestyle of New York. On the other hand, he finds that lifestyle grotesque and damaging. This inner conflict is symbolized throughout the book .
