         <description><![CDATA[<div>The primary producers get all the energy they can get from the sun. But then the primary consumers eat the producers and they get only 10% from the plants energy. This happens because heat makes the energy to transfer as heat.Then the secondary consumers get their energy from the primary consumers, which is 1%. This happens again because of heat. After that the third level consumers get their energy from the 2nd consumers, which is .1%. And then the apex consumers get their energy from the third level consumers which it .01%. This happens because of heat. So it keeps dividing by 10 each level you go up.</div>]]></description>

When a consumer eats the plant, they don't get all of the energy because some of it is taken from heat transfer and decomposers. The consumers also just do not get all of the energy from the prey. This keeps going so that by the end of it there is not much energy left from the original producer as it goes to different places each time.</div>]]></description>

The food chain shows how energy is transferred from a producer to 1st consumer to 2nd consumer to 3rd consumer. It only shows this simple process while a food web shows many food chains put together. The food web shows the connected food chains and how the different chains connect with predators consuming prey from multiple chains. The food pyramid shows how much energy is transferred from the sun to the producer, and all the way up to the apex predator, with energy being used elsewhere with heat transfer and decomposition, leaving less energy at the top.</div>]]></description>

When something eats the plant, like a cow, the energy that it had stored is now passed down to the cow. Next say a wolf comes along and eats the cow, or a human eats the cow or drinks the milk it has produced, then the energy that the cow got from the plant is passed down to the human or wolf. This cycle will continue to repeat until the animal at the top of the food chain/web has the energy, and when it dies it gets decomposed and it nutrients goes into the soil to grow the plants all over again.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The difference between a food web, food chain and an energy pyramid is very simple. A food chain is just one line or one chain of what the predators eat and what the predators are prey to in just one line of animals. A food web is a bunch of food chains stringed together that shows how all the animals in a place eat and what eats them over a variety of animals and zooms out from the food chain to show a larger area of animals. And finally an energy pyramid is very zoomed out version of a food web and shows all animals and how the energy gets from the sun to the plants to the primary consumers and so on until the energy reaches the apex predators. The energy pyramid basically shows the path of energy and how it drops off as it climbs the pyramid.</div>]]></description>

The producers give their energy to primary consumers, then to secondary consumers, and then third level consumers, and finally the apex predators. The energy given to each organism as the pyramid goes up is less and less because the energy is used by each organism and then they get the energy of that organism. All of these groups give some to decomposers, and the decomposers return it to the ground where the primary producers use it to grow. Some energy is lost as heat, but they still keep enough for the cycle to keep going.</div>]]></description>

The food web broadens the horizon and pulls in more organisms from that same given area to make a full representation of a ecosystem in an area. An energy pyramid is different but has the same concept of showing how energy passes through a ecosystem, but it is probably a lot broader than a food web shows. Even though they are all different, they all show how energy passes through different organisms.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In a food chain or food web animals are being eaten repeatedly by their predators. During this process energy is being passed on as they eat another organism. When eating the other organism there is still energy inside it, but as they eat it, it gives off the rest of the energy it has. Meaning primary consumers get the most energy because they are the first to eat the producer which is directly 100% energy. As you go on all the way to a Tertiary Consumer and it gets less energy because this organism is eating other dead organisms that have ate other ones, so it doesn't have as much energy to put off when killed and eaten compared to a producer or primary consumer.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>When the sun gives a lot of energy to the producers who get the most amount of energy which then they are eaten by the primary consumers who get less of the energy because that energy is lost as heat or other matters of energy that helps the organisms to survive, then the secondary consumers get even less of the energy because it has been used up from the primary consumers as heat or other things that they need to survive so then the third level consumers get even less energy because the animals before them had to use that energy to survive and so then the apex predators at the end get the least amount of energy because all of the animals before them have taken the energy and used it to keep them alive and that gets lost as heat and when the apex predators die the decomposers take their matter and use it along with all of the other organisms matter and decompose it and create nutrients for the producers </div>]]></description>
