Q1. I do enjoy having my hair cut as while the barber is cutting my hair, the quiet time I have to myself allows me to simply relax. For example, just sitting down in the chair while the barber cuts my hair is quite serene. The feeling and the buzzing of the razor also contributes to this heartfelt inner peace. Focusing only in the present, and not allowing the future or the past bother me.

Q2. I would not consider a career in hair styling as it does not have much in terms of prospects. For example, a hair stylist would only ever be a hair stylist, not known for anything else but maintaining the grooming of others. On the other hand, a career such as a Police Officer has much more in terms of recognition and achievement. The different rank structures and commands given to those who excel in the job are much more exciting. Additionally, the salary of a hair stylist would also depend on the amount of customers taken in, while the salary of a Police Officer is fixed, providing a stable source of income.

Q3. I do agree to a large extent. Teenagers nowadays tend to spend a lot on expensive clothing and the most trending apparel. For example, when ripped jeans were the mainstream piece of clothing, teenagers flocked to the different clothing stores to purchase these clothing in droves. They also have uploaded different videos to guide others on choosing the most appropriate style of clothing. On the other hand, teenagers are also placing a bit more emphasis on their studies, as most can clearly be seen under the stress and pressure of their academics. They spend time with their fellow friends to study together to ensure their academic success.

1. Yes, I would encourage people to have meals like this. In my opinion, I find that it is pointless to participate in upscale dining as the prices would cost me an arm and a leg to buy the dishes which can be consumed at hawker centres for a lower price. Moreover, the hawkers do take pride in their food and the food is relatively delicious. Hence, I would encourage people to indulge in meals like this

2. I enjoy eating out more than eating at home. I find that eating food at home is more tedious as I have to painstakingly prepare the ingredients and make the dish. As I have a very frenetic schedule, this would only further amplify the stress I have . By consuming food outside, it would be more convenient for me as I do not have to prepare any ingredients or cook the food. Furthermore, the prices of food can vary outside and may be cheaper to consume outside than to purchase the ingredients from local supermarkets so I would not need to break the bank just to consume food

3. I agree to a large extent that food brings people together. Food is a language of love and can forge strong bonds between people. My parents are a true testament to this statement. Both my parents are polar opposites and do not see eye to eye on many things. However, there is one thing that will always unite them together and that is food. They will always make it a point to spend quality time with their family and visit exquisite restaurants every week. This allows them to find common ground with one another and unite them.

However, there are other factors that may unite people together. While food may be something that we indulge in everyday, it may not be everybody's holy grail. For myself personally, I am a natrually reticent person who does not talk that much on the dinner table. My holy grail would be areas related to chemistry and medicine so I would forge strong bonds when I talk to people about the vast concepts in medicine and chemistry

1. The performers may be anxious and tense as they have to be in sync with one another and they may make a mistake and ruin the performance.

2. I think I may learn the spirit of unity and hard work as to pull off live performances are very difficult and require many weeks of practice. To carry out such performances, I need to work well with others and learn to cooperate despite our differences. Not to mention, I would gain more confidence with myself and learn to better face audiences in the future.

3. I agree to a large extend as the people who work behind the scenes carry out many tasks while on the job. Although the performers are the ones facing the audience, the backstage crew has to deal with the lighting and sound effects. There are also different timings and they have to ensure that the performers come out at the exact timing without breaking the flow of the performance.

However, there are people who think that the people working behind the scene do not deserve as much credit as the performers as the performers spend a lot of their time training for the big day itself. This time spent far outweighs the roles that the people behind the scene plays

1: I would not. For one, I have not even tried the food for myself, so I would not be able to recommend it to others. Another thing is that the queue is also very long and would be sort of a waste of time to queue when you can just eat something else without having to queue.
2: Between outside food and home-cooked, I rather the former. Outside, there are more food choices and variety, spanning from Western to Chinese and Japanese. Outside food also tends to be tastier despite being unhealthier, for example the burgers, fries and fish and chips which are Western.
3: I agree to a large extent that food brings people together. As Singaporeans, we enjoy eating and it provides a sense of comfort. Those that really love eating might also be able find others who share their hobby, forming a friendship.

1) I would not encourage people to have meals at a place like this. There is a very long queue for the fish porridge stall, which means there will be a very long waiting time. On top of that, in the current Covid-19 situation, we should avoid long or big queues like the one shown in the video.

2) Personally, i prefer home-cooked food, because I prefer to avoid crowds when I am outside. I do not really like long or big queues as I prefer not to wait a really long time for my food, plus I also do not really enjoy the noise and chatter when eating out. For example, I would definitely prefer eating in the comfort and peacefulness of my own home, rather than going out to a hawker centre. Hence, i prefer home-cooked food compared to eating out.

3) I agree to a small extent that food brings people together. Food can connect many people especially in Singapore where we have many different cultures and food items from each culture. In Singapore, many of us Singaporeans love to eat all sorts of varieties of food, most of the food also comes from different cultures. This brings people together as Singaporeans can appreciate the different cultures other people have.
On the other hand, food does not necessarily bring people together as eating similar food items does not mean that they will communicate. For example, even though Singaporeans eat food items from different cultures, it may not bring them together as the first step must still be taken. Most Singaporeans will not take the initiative to actually communicate with other people just because they eat similar food items. In conclusion, even though food can bring people together, I feel that more often than not, food will not bring people together as some people will be uninterested in communicating with others just because they have a similar taste in food.

1. I would feel weary as it is not easy to clean up an entire beach even with a crew of 45 people. At the same time, I would feel complacent as my crew and I just collected 45kg of trash which is not an easy feat.

2. There are many effective ways to reduce waste. I feel that the fundamental cause for waste is due to a lack of recycling and irresponsible, inappropriate disposal of products that are still reusable. One way for us to encourage recycling is to include programs to educate the public on recycling with incentives, to motivate the apathetic public to partake in the programs. This way we can have a well informed public about waste disposal, maximising recycling and minimising wastage. We may also locate more recycling bins near housing estates so as to improve accessiblity to recycling, motivating the residents of estates to do so.
3. I do not agree to a large extent. I feel that organisations should have the responsiblity of protecting the environment instead. The impacts that can be brought out by an individual is insignificant next to big organisations such as Zero Waste SG. Zero Waste SG is a charity and non-governmental organisation leading the drive towards zero waste in Singapore through education and advocacy. Organised groups tend to have a much larger influence than individuals. Moreover, it is individuals that makes up organisations and groups. Therefore, groups are essentially individuals collaborating to work towards a better environment. Organisations tend to have more funds and budget, which further amplifies their capability and extent of their projects, drastically better than individuals. Therefore, individuals need not bear the full responsibility to protect the environment, as their capabilities are limited, far lower than organisations.

Qn 1 : I think that the participants in the clip are thinking about how delicious the food is and how much fun they are having. In the video, it is evident that they are smiling and having fun while cooking. They have also said that they thoroughly enjoy the food as it is of a different variety of food than they are used to. Moreover, in the video, they have said that it was a new and interesting experience to be able to cook the food for themselves and by doing so, allowed them to appreciate the food more.

Qn 2: It was a week before the March holidays, and all 4 of my older brothers and my mother was down with Covid. During this time, I had to rely on myself to make my own meals, do my own laundry and there was no one around the house to help me as all of the were quarantining. It was definitely a new experience, and although it was a difficult time for me, I do think that it was beneficial, As i learnt to be more independent and I had to rely only on myself to get things done. Furthermore, I think that it was something that I needed to go through, especially since I've always desired to live on my own in the future, so I feel like getting a taste of what's it's like to be self-sufficient made me more prepared for my future.

Qn 3: I agree to a large extent that having confidence in yourself is the main key to achieving success. Having confidence in yourself will give you the boost you need to step out of your comfort zone and take advantage of any opportunities we are given. If we are not confident in who we are and what we're doing, we will not be able to overcome any setbacks, which is unavoidable when trying to succeed. For example, I am in the Drama Club in our school and we have recently written an original play that we performed for the Singapore Youth Festival. Writing an original script was a huge risk that we took, but we had confidence in our script that it would pay off. We faced many setbacks and the process took us months. One such example of a setback was when our script got declined by our principal, meaning we had to start all over again. However, in the end, we ended up with a distiction, which is the highest accolade you can achieve in the competition. Moral of the story, if we didn't have the confidence to take a risk and seize the opportunity, we would have never succeeded. Therefore, I agree to a large extent that confidence is the key to achieving success.

However, I also disagree with this statement. This is because there are other factors more important than confidence, such as skill and practice. When we only have confidence, it will not be able to get us anywhere. As confidence can only give us the drive to succeed, but without skill and practice in our field, we are unable to succeed anywhere from the lack of experience. Furthermore, practice can allow us to become proficient in our field so that we can do better. For example, if we step into an exam without studying, although we may have confidence in ourselves, that doesn't mean we are going to excel in the examination as the lack of practice meant that we were not able to familiarise ourselves with concepts that we need to remember. Therefore, confidence is not the main key to achieving success, as factors like skill and practice are also keys to achieving success.

clip 3 - jeslyn
1. i feel like some of the performers may be feeling nervous and tense while others will enjoy the experience on stage. being on stage may let them feel alive and exhilarating. this experience will allow the performers to have the chance to be onstage.
2. i have learnt that the put a lot of hard work they have put in to practice to be coordinated and on beat and to perform. they have to be in sync with each other as well as with the music and i know that it requires a lot of practice. they need to have teamwork.
3. i agree to a large extent since a performance heavily relies on the music and lighting. it creates the atmosphere and allows the performance to stand out. this allows the performers to have the limelight and the people who work behind the scenes, to ensure the lightings are correct and that the music will be played at the correct time. they have to ensure that the curtains will open and close at the right time and that it will sync with the music. they also deserve as much credit as the performers. i remember once, i have been to a concert, where there were malfunctions and they music did not play nor did the lighting work. i learnt that the performance heavily relies on the music and lighting as well as things such as the microphone and speakers. they play an important role in creating and making the performance go well . however there will be people who think that the performers should have more credit due to how hard they work and the practice they put into it. they have put a lot of practice and effort into it thus they should deserve more credit

I think at a time like this, with covid still spreading i would not encourage people to eat at hawker centres like in the video, as the hawker centre has sits that are situated closely to one another and now with the opening of many food places with restrictions being reduced and more people are willing to go to these places as they think it is safer. But i do not fully agree with their decisions as instead of eating at the places, we can take-away the food items so that we can avoid having to eat the meals in the enclosed area. Thus, i would not encourage people to have meals at places such as in the video, given the current situation.

2. i enjoy eating out more as to home-cooked food, even though home-cooked is healthier and more beneficial to the body, i prefer eating-out, as eating out gives me more choices to pick from for example different cuisines ranging from the east with japanese cuisine to the western food from the west.Personally when i end school and finish my classes i would usually opt to go out with friends and eat different kinds of foods.but given the current situation this has been cut down.Eating out also allows me to try a wide variety of food, also allowing me to spend more time with friends or family to experience these different kinds of food, thus i prefer to eat out rather than home-cooked food.

3. I agree to a large extent that food brings people together as food is a universal thing as it can be found anywhere in the world, this means that it is not subjected to any restrictions by any race or country of origin.Especially in Singapore, there is a wide variety of food since Singapore is a multi-racial country, there is a wide variety of food from the different races, from indian cuisine to chinese cuisine, this allows for availibility and accessibilty for people to try this cuisine which brings people together as people have a topic to relate to with no large conflict.

The person in the video also looks shocked at excited screaming with joy this makes me more interested to try this activity

2. By taking part in this activity can help people to relieve stress and to relax . By going on this activity can help to allow the person to feel more relaxed enjoying in the ride . By participating in this activity can also help to overcome dome people fear of heights and help them venture out of their comfort zone and would not be afraid next time . For example , my friend used to be afraid of heights but after bungee jumping he manage to overcome his fear of heights and is less afraid to try high elements now.

3. Personally, I have been in a live performance before, before the performance, there is a lot of training for the performance and everything has to be precise to ensure that the performance is well put up for the live audience and for it to be precise, it requires team effort and synergy, and so that the effort put into the performance will not go to waste.
3. How far do you agree that people who work behind the scenes for any performance deserve as much credit as the performers?
I agree to a large extent as the people who work behind the scenes have also placed a large bulk of their time and energy to solve any issues, for example the lighting and audio on stage, the little issues in the performance ,etc.before the performances and ensure the performance is at its best, thus they also deserve credit. On the other hand, the performers also have the added cost of having to work before and during the performance, more than that of those who work behind the scenes.

1. I would feel exhausted, taking time out of my day to clean the beach. Even though the participants were under the hot sun, they seemed eager to pick up the trash from the beach and ocean. All kinds of garbage were found at the beach, with different sizes. Because of this, it takes more effort to clean up the beach. However, knowing that I am contributing to a cleaner and green environment, I would be pleased with taking a day or two in order to clean up the beach. Knowing that there are other people with the same mindset working together with me would drive me as well.

2. One effective way to reduce waste would be to use reusable grocery bags. By using reusable grocery bags, we can cut down on the use of plastic, which contributes a large percentage of waste around the world. Using reusable grocery bags saves us from utilising multiple plastic bags each trip to the supermarket. Singapore actually plans to start charging people for using plastic bags in supermarkets in 2023. While this may reduce the usage of plastic bags, people will still continue to use plastic bags since the amount charged is a meagre amount. Hence, we should still try to use reusable grocery bags.

3. I agree to a large extent. It is very much our responsibility as an individual in society to protect the environment. In the first place, we are the main cause of environmental issues. As the environment issues get worse, we would get negatively affected as well. Schools are continuously hosting events to protect the environment. For example, when I was in Primary School, I had to go to East Coast Park with my class to collect trash there. It was definitely a good experience for me and my other classmates as it taught us that any small action counts towards contributing to a better environment. While us as an individual might not make a big impact by practising habits to conserve the environment, together as a society, we will be able to protect the environment as long as everyone is willing to do their part.

There are many teenagers going out of their way to upload parts of their personal life to social media in order to look good in front of other people. This causes them to not have the gear to protect themselves from imminent danger. i have seen many people bike riding on youtube and some were naked without any safety gear. This irresponsible act, may cause them their life. on the other hand, some people take responsibility and wear their proper gear. for example, my cousin who likes to rock climb is always serious about his safety and always has backup gear in his car. therefore, i agree that people who take extreme sports are irresponsible to a large extent.

This is because they looked very enthusiastic when they were cooking and they said that they enjoyed the course when they were sharing their experiences. I also think that the participants are thinking that they need to stay focused when cooking. This is because they looked very serious and concentrated when they were cooking.

2. When my mother went back to Taiwan during the school holidays, I had to be self-reliant as I had to take care of the house by myself. I had to rely on myself to clean up the house by sweeping the floor and mopping the floor. I also had to cook or buy my own lunch and dinner everyday. I would always need to buy groceries every week.

3. I agree to a large extent as having confidence in myself is very important as I will be able to trust my ability to do things like having confidence in my ideas and answers. For example, whenever I communicate with my group members, I would have several ideas for the project but I would not have confidence to present it to my group mates. If I had confidence in myself then I would have been able to share my ideas with them and we would be able to discuss about it and have more potential project ideas.

However, having passion is one of the main keys to achieving any kind of success as it will keep me motivated to pursue what I love. I would be more determined and I would want to achieve my goals related to what I am passionate about.

1. I think the performers are feeling nervous. This is because the performers are performing in front of a live audience, it would be unpleasant if any of them made a mistake on stage. The video shows that the performers did become a little unsynchronised during the performance.

2. I think I might learn about teamwork as when performing, one needs to be in coordination with the rest in order to perform a successful synchronised performance. This shows that it is everyone's responsibility to put in effort. As from my own experience, during my primary school days, my class had to do a coordinated dance for my physical education lesson. Everyone had to be in sync with each other, which encourages everyone to work together, hence building teamwork amongst us.

3. I agree to a large extent. This is because the people who work behind the scenes also contribute to making sure that the performance will be a success. People who work behind the scenes, such as those handling the lights and sound, and making sure that the props and performers are where they are supposed to be at the right place and the right time.

However, I also agree that performers deserve the credit as they are the ones that put in the effort to make the audience feel entertained. For example, as a band member myself, before any performance, I would tirelessly practice the pieces in order to get the right note and pitch. During the performance, it is everyone's responsibility behind the scenes and the front lines to put up a good show. In addition of the PA club, which controls the sound system. Hence, I agree to a large extent that the people who work behind the scenes deserve as much as credit as the performers.

1. If I was one of the participants who are helping out in picking up the trash, I would feel glad that I have used my time wisely by helping to clean up to the beach. Instead of using my time for leisure at home for example watching dramas or playing video games, I have used it to do something productive that can save the earth indirectly. All the trash on the beach results in water pollution and negatively affects the marine ecosystem. Moreover by working together with fellow volunteers, I am given the opportunity to socialise with others and get to know them more or even form friendships. Therefore by participating in this beach clean up session, the future me will not regret not taking up this opportunity given to me to make a difference in the environment.

2. Some effective ways to reduce waste can include the little things for example to discard our waste properly everyday appropriately. For example, we should be recycling glass or metal cans instead of discarding them in the garbage bin. Another way of reducing waste can be by reducing food wastage in our every meals. We should not only try to finish the food we buy but also encourage others like our family and friends to buy only what they can finish and not overbuy. Lastly, we should also refrain from throwing our waste on the beaches, as this will cause the garbage to be carried out into seas and oceans which will lead to water pollution.

3. I agree with this statement to a large extent. Everyone has a role to play in saving the environment, if everyone does their part in discarding their waste properly instead of littering on the ground. This can majorly affect the cleanliness of our environment positively. Even if everyone does the little things which include eating finish their meals, everyone's action can accumulate and greatly reduce the amount of food waste generated by the country. Therefore, everyone has a responsibility in protecting the environment, in order to really bring a positive change to our environment in the nation

I enjoy adrenaline inducing activities and bungee jumping would be a perfect activity for me. The wind brushing against my face as I plummet straight down will be a truly unique and thrilling experience.

When taking part in adventure activities, people are able to push themselves to their fullest, knowing their true limits and strengths. For activities such as trekking mountains, people are able to discover the limits of their physical strength and their true colours. Being pushed to their limits, they will realise how resilient or optimistic they may be. Partaking in such activities also allows them to face their fears. For example, when people who fear heights participate in rock climbing, it will be nerve wrecking at first. However, as they continue, they will be able to overcome to the fear as they get used to the experience.

I agree to a large extent. Extreme sports are highly risky and accidents are very possible. These accidents may leave participants in a terrible physical or emotional state. Some may even be fatal. Not only do they endanger themselves, they hurt their loved ones if they ever fall victim to an accident. When they are hurt, medical fees have to paid to nurse them back to good health. Their families will have to take time out of their daily lives to care for them. Worse still, if the accident is fatal, loved ones will be devastated. Especially if they are parents to families. Their spouse will have to work harder than ever before and their children will grow up missing the love and care of 2 parents. In my opinion, it is very irresponsible to endanger yourself in a risky recreational activity at the cost of everyone around you.

I would not because it requires full concentration during work which I don't think I am capable of doing. When hair stylists are doing their work, they have to pay attention and focus on styling which I am weak at as I can't really fully concentrate on things for a prolonged period. During covid lockdown I was trying to cut my hair myself in front of the mirror but i was thinking about other stuff in my head and hence I had a portion of my fringe cut. After that experience I realized that I am not suitable for the hair styling industry and therefore I wont consider my career in hair styling.

Another reason is my lack of ability to communicate well with others. Hair stylists have to understand what their clients want and give them what they prefer moreover stylists may want to chat with clients so that the clients wont feel bored. Once I was teaching my friend math but after my explanation he still had no idea what i was trying to say which shows that my communication skills are not good hence i wont consider in the hair styling career

3. I agree to a large extent. With the presence of social media, teenagers nowadays tend to compare themselves to the ones online, whether it's their friend or idol. This makes them want to be more attractive than the ones online so they spend more and more time and money on their appearances such as buying branded clothes and accessories. Once I was walking on the street and I saw a 14-year old boy dressing like those man Korean stars with makeup on his face and over-sized, branded t shirts. In my opinion the outfit didnt fit him whatsoever and he could have spend the money he bought the outfit on something more meaningful. I have seen multiple teenagers doing the same thing as well.

1. I see several volunteers at a beach cleaning up a large amount of rubbish. I would feel happy to be part of this event as I would be able to help clean up the beach to prevent marine animals from eating the rubbish and dying. It makes me feel more encouraged to take part in these events to keep our beaches clean and that I am making a difference to help the marine animals. However, I might also feel very tired and hot as we would have to bend over every time we would want to pick up the rubbish under the hot sun. On the other hand, knowing that I am impacting lives positively will motivate me much more to participate than demotivating me due to the hard labour.

2. An effective way to reduce waste is by recycling. It is much easier than having to put the rubbish into a rubbish dump. Some materials such as plastics will take centuries to decompose. For example, iron cans are reused after purification for bridges and roads. Another way to decrease waste is to only take what you need. If people were to buy large amounts of food from the supermarket, food may be wasted. For example, some supermarkets have decided to charge shoppers about 20 cents per plastic bag. This will discourage shoppers from taking too many plastic bags and wasting large amounts of plastic. Hence, recycling and reducing one's use can help reduce waste.

3. I would agree to a large extent. It is undeniable that it is of utmost importance that everyone protects the environment. Firstly, if people were not to protect the environment and litter freely, the surroundings would be very unsightly. Protecting the environment can keep the environment clean, and people will be able to enjoy going to public places such as parks and beaches. People can engage in simple acts, spanning the spectrum from throwing their rubbish in the nearest bin to using personal instead of plastic bags during shopping. For example, people at the beach can simply remember to throw away their plastic bottles before they leave. Secondly, there would be an increased rate in climate change. Climate change is already occurring at a very fast rate. Rubbish is often burned at rubbish dumps, and greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide are released. These gases take in heat and cause global warming, contributing to climate change. For example, temperatures at the arctic are causing ice to melt and increase the sea level. For people who say that it is the job of the cleaners to clean up after them, they should think of how large these public areas are and put themselves in their shoes to think how it will be like to clean up an area, under the scorching hot sun. Hence, I strongly agree that everyone must do their part to protect the environment.

2. Tell me about a time when you needed to be self reliant

I was self-reliant during the holidays before covid-19 when my parents were not home as they went for work. I had to settle my breakfast and lunch while we ate dinner together and do some housework and do holiday homework. I prepared lunch for myself with the ingredients in my fridge.it definitely improved my cooking skills and it allowed me to depend on myself on simple daily tasks. It was a great experience, allowing me to experience having minimal help from my parents.

3. To what extent would you agree that having confidence in yourself is one of the main keys to achieving any kind of success?

I agree that having confidence in yourself is one of the main keys to achieving any kind of success to a large extent. As confidence is being shown through verbal and non-verbal cues, confidence can also show confidence in what we are presenting and working on, thus seeming convincing to any other parties in collaboration.an example is Nicholas Smith, Founder and Director of CompareNewTyres.com. Who recalls “Ever since leaving school I had a pocket full of business ideas and the drive to get the businesses started, but the one thing I lacked was confidence,” and success went hand in hand with his new found confidence. Thus as people with confidence are successful, it is one of the main keys of success.

However, critics may argue that low self-esteem or self worth do not have to be barriers to success. Many celebrities,CEOs,all star athletes and politicians suffer from low self-esteem or did at one point of their lives. Improvements come from these doubts that they have to improve their inventions or their area of expertise. Oprah Winfrey is proof that people with poor self-esteem can be successful. Thus, as people with low self-esteem are successful, confidence is not the main key to success.

Q1: I would enjoy having my hair styled instead of being cut. This is because I feel that a hair cut has a higher risk of being messed up.

Q2: I would consider a career in hair styling as I want would love to give my customers a satisfactory hair style that would give them a huge confidence boost. I would feel happy that I gave my customers a hair style that would have made their day a lot better. However, I would not consider a career in hair styling as my salary would not be enough to support my monetary spendings. I would rather have a career that allows me to spend my money without having the fear of overspending. I also would not consider a career in hair styling as I do not want to take the chance of messing up my customers’ hair style and be the cause of their discouragement.

Q3: i agree to a large extent that teenagers today pay far too much attention on how they look. students aged 12 to 19 are spending a lot of time and money on their physical appearance. they buy trendy clothings and go to hair salons and go for facial treatments. this is unprecedented. in the past, teenagers spend only at most 5 minutes on their hair before going to school. however this is a revolution for the better as physical appearance will improve first impression of a person. neat and appropriate looks makes them looks more professional and reliable. as an example, i have spend more than 100 dollars on my clothes alone.

however, some people might disagree with the statement as the actions teenagers take are not excessive and is appropriate. in today's world, people based their judgement mostly on the external appearance of people. hence to build relationship with people, we need to have a good appearance to approach and talk to them. as an example, to make friends with your new colleague in your new job, people will be more willing to open up towards a person with a neater appearance. to make new friends, we need a presentable appearance before talking top them or else they might feel iffy towards us. therefore i believe that teenagers today do not pay far too much attention as improving external appearance is very important and beneficial in social life.

in conclusion, i believe that teenagers today pay too much attention on their appearance as they are able to spend less time and money to improve their appearance and look presentable to other people.

1. I would feel a sense of accomplishment as I feel that it is necessary to protect the environment and I played my part as a citizen in helping to protect the environment by cleaning up the beach. The beach is public area, and so it is our responsibility to keep it clean. The participants in the video seem keen to pick up litter at the beach so working together with them would not be a tiring and boring job. Thus I would feel accomplished as I did my part as a citizen in protecting the environment.

2. Some effective ways to reduce waste can be by using reusable bottles and grocery bags. we can also avoid single-use food and drink containers and utensils. we can bring the reusable utensils when eating outside. we can also donate items that we do not want instead of throwing it away which can then reduce wastage. I have seen some restaurants and drink stalls, they do not provide straws. This then encourages people to bring and use their own reusable straws which then can help in reducing waste.

3. I agree to a large extent that it is the responsibility of every individual to protect the environment. Everyone has a part to play in protecting the environment. Many people think it is only the government's duty to protect the environment but each individual's responsibility is important as they are the first who gets directly affected if changes in the surrounding occur. Thus, every individual has their own part to play in protecting the environment as they are the one getting affected.

qns1: I do enjoy getting my hair cut. Getting my hair cut prevents hair from getting into my eyes when playing sports. Furthermore, getting my hair cut allows me to perspire less in Singapore's humid climate.
qns2: No, I would not consider a career in hair styling. Due to the long hours hair stylist stand while doing their job, I do not think that I would be capable of doing so when I grow old. The working hours are long and the hob does not provide a fixed income.
qns3: I agree to a large extent. Teenagers today tend to buy clothes that are trending. They also spend longer periods of time doing their hair and makeup compared to teenagers of the past. For example, teenagers nowadays are keen to follow social media influencers and replicate the way they dress.
However, some other teenagers do not pay too much attention on the way they look. They tend to find that their studies and the relationship they form with their families and friends are more important than they way they look.

1. I think they are enthusiastic and confident in the way they dance. There may be nervousness when performing on stage. The dance overall was systematic and synchronized in order. They should feel proud after the performance.

2. Being involved in a live performance, I think I can build up my confidence and resilience. To be able to stand in front of the audience and prestige guests, presenting your best performance without mistakes, we must have great confidence and react within split seconds. In addition, we must have the resilience to start and end the show. The performance can’t stop halfway because of small mistakes and we must make sure the show goes on. Most importantly, I can learn about teamwork- understanding that everyone plays a part in the team.

3. I agree to a large extent. People who work behind the scenes are usually anonymous and most credit doesn't go to them. Audience only saw the bright side of the performers on stage, but didn’t notice the hard work put in by the people behind the scenes, to support and solve any issues they faced during the show. Without them supporting the performers, they wouldn’t present their best.

1. I think that the participants in the clip are thinking about how enjoyable the hands-on cooking classes are. They look eager to learn and are enjoying themselves while learning together with family and friends, or other people. Furthermore, food is an excellent bonding activity, which allows them to strengthen their ties with family and friends, or get to know new friends. When they are bonding together, they share their personal experiences and learn new ideas from others, making the cooking classes more enjoyable and fulfilling.

2. In 2020, the Covid-19 outbreak started and Singapore went into a complete lockdown. As such, my learning was being shifted online. By doing so, I could not come to school and meet my teachers in person, which made it difficult for me to seek clarification from them. This allowed me to be self-reliant as there was no guidance from the teachers. I had to do my own research on the things that I was unsure of and also at the same time learn new things online.

3. I agree to a large extent that having confidence in oneself is one of the main keys to achieving success. By having confidence, it allows one to step out of his comfort zone and go beyond his limits. If one does not have confidence, he would not be able to have the courage to face problems and overcome them, which is essential for success. For example, I am the CCA Leader in my CCA and I have to train my juniors. By having confidence in myself, I am aware of my doings which allows me to train my juniors properly and effectively, and impart my knowledge and skills to them. Without confidence, I would have faced problems and not know how to train them in order for them to improve. However, I also disagree with this statement to a small extent. There are many other more important aspects, such as skills, which is also a key to achieving success. For example, if one does not have skills, he would not be able to teach others the correct way of doing things and would impart the wrong knowledge and skills to them.

1. I see them performing in front of a live audience, I think that they are feeling nervous since they only had one chance to perform well since it was live. But they were also able to maintain exposure and keep the performance going by making it seem like it was part of the performance.

2. I think that from being involved in a live performance, I can learn to keep calm and continue with the performance if I ever slip up onstage. From this, I can also learn that teamwork and chemistry is also an important to be in sync with each performer in the dance. For example, in my primary school's talent fiesta event and competed in the kpop dance category. It was important to look out for each other as we had to be synchronized to make the choreography look seamless. We practiced facing the mirror and had to constantly glance at each other in the mirror to ensure that everyone was doing the same dance move and in the same way.

3. I agree to a large extent that people who work behind the scenes for any performance deserve as much credit as the performers. People who work behind the scenes have just as much responsibility as the performers. They have to prepare the lighting, music, costumes, event planning and event location. While, the performers have an important task to carry out the performance well, the people working behind the scenes have to ensure that the whole performance runs smoothly without any mishaps from the stage props and equipment. For example, I once attended a recital and noticed the different people working behind the curtains who had multiple different tasks. One was in charge of the lighting, and I saw a table with multiple switches and buttons, each controlling something in the performance hall and had to wait for cues to change the lighting. Halfway through the recital, it was time to dim the lights for the next group of performers to come on stage. However, there was a malfunction with one of the spotlights and caused a delay. The lighting crew was able to resolve it within minutes and the performance was able to carry on smoothly. The backstage crew were a big part of making sure everything would allow the performance to go well. On the other hand, performers deserve credit for their hard work too. They often practice from day to night, working on their synchronization, techniques and perfecting the small details and touches.

I would also feel that i have done my part in conserving the environment through taking part in this activity
2.One way is to add more rubbish bins in the area so that the amount of litter would decrease as there will be rubbish bins in every part.
3.I agree to a large extent that it is the responsibility of every individual to protect the environment.

1. I would encourage people to have meals in places like this. In Singapore, many refer to these places as hawker centres. A place like this is often located around public housing estates, making it very convenient for people to get food. Especially in a country like Singapore, where everything is very fast paced, having meals near your place of residence will save a lot of time and possibly, allow one to catch up on work. Moreover, having meals at these places will also allow people to save money. Most of the time, these places offer affordable meals at under $5. Therefore, the affordability allows one to use their money on other essential things such as household items.

2. I enjoy eating home-cooked food. Growing up, my mother has always cooked for my family and I. Aside from breakfast and dinner, my mother also packs my lunch for school. In my opinion, the familiar taste and amount of effort that goes into home-cooked food makes it taste much better. For example, my father and my mother makes Lasagna every once in a while. I prefer this version compared to ones I have tried at restaurants because the taste is more suited to my liking. Moreover, the abundance of home-cooked meals is another reason why. Compared to the amount of food I get when eating out, home-cooked meals have a larger portion size. I like this because I get to enjoy more food at once.

3. I agree that food brings people together. Not only does food bring joy to people, its taste also strengthens one's relationship. In Singapore, I often bond with others who also love African cuisine. Being able to relate with someone who also enjoys exotic food such as fufu, allows me to start new relationships as meeting these people is a very rare opportunity.

However, food can also cause disputes. Disagreements on the taste, smell or looks of certain dishes may cause tensions between two people. One may take offence when another person makes negative remarks about a food belonging to their culture. Once, I attended a friend's birthday party and did not enjoy the food. My dislike for the food at the party was noticed by him, and this caused our friendship to be very awkward for some time. This shows how food can cause sour relationships instead of bringing us together.

Overall, food can bring people closer together, but also cause people to drift apart.

1. I would not enjoy this kind of activity as I have a fear of heights and I cannot help but let my wild imagination run by picturing the worst possible scenarios in my head. Although this may be thrilling for others, I would be very reluctant to try this and it will take a lot of convincing and persuasion for me to give it a try.

2. When people take part in adventure activities, it may help them to relax. Instead of worrying about all of their problems, they focus on the adrenaline rush. Taking the clip as an example, the person was fully immersed in the activity as shown by his facial expressions. He does not look worried or unhappy. Instead, he looks flushed and as if he had a good time. Therefore, adventure activities may be dangerous but can help people to 'live in the moment'.

3. I agree to this statement to a large extent. People take part in these extreme sports without thinking of their health risks, the aftermath or the consequences that will be imposed on their loved ones as well. For instance, there have been cases of people dying from mountain climbing because of not wearing proper safety gear or being unprepared. The hasty decision to take part in these extreme sports can cost them their life even. On the other hand, not everyone is like that. My friends who are in rock climbing CCA always emphasize to me how important is it to ensure that their safety gear is properly put on. Extreme sports can be safe, only when carried out with proper execution and with calculated risks.

1)I would encourage people to have meals at places like this as it allows for interaction between the hawkers and the customers, especially during this covid-19 season it helps to ensure that we are still able to have human interaction. I would also encourage people to eat at places like this as we should support local businesses as they could be having tough times to keep their business afloat so we should help them by buying their food.

2)I prefer eating home cooked food than eating out as I believe that home cooked for is more special than food outside as home cooked food is usually made by your family members which makes it more special as you see your family members hard work to cook the food and the amount of feelings they put in the food. Home cooked food also gives us a chance to chat with your parents as now a days people are very busy leading to less time being spent at home, so this precious time where your family are eating together is a good chance to talk with them.

3)I agree that food brings people together as people who have similar taste in food will often go to similar restaurants in order to eat that certain type of food, they also go to different workshops which teaches people how to cook different kind of foods which allow them to communicate with people with different taste in food which helps people to become more connected and friendly as they share their experiences. However, I can understand why food might not bring people together as people with different kind of taste in food might not like others with different taste. For example if you like Chinese food and your friend like western food you might not want to go and eat at the same restaurant as them which will deprive them of interaction with others and lead to them being stuck to only one type of food and only talk to people with similar interests which will not bring people together.
