Mythology is most commonly fokelore or religious beliefs.
On other occasions myths can be wide spread across the world, either having people fear them or  having  people test those myths. Myths aren´t always scary though, (exp) If you shoot ice it is possible for the bullet to spin if the ice is thick enough. Mythbusters is a popular tv show,  where they test such myths as spinning ice bullets.
