Today I started reading “Mosquitoland” by David Arnold. When I was trying to pick a book yesterday, I was wavering between “One of Us is Lying” by Karen M. McManus and “The curious incident of the the dog at nighttime” by Mark Haddon.
It was a tough decision. But, I ultimately decided to choose this book because it was highly recommended and was told to have a very interesting storyline. My book is a fictional read, written by David Arnold. He has also written some other titles like, The Electric Kingdom, and I Love You in Another Life. It’s a modern book that almost bounces the timeline around. This book has not been made into a movie. So far I like it, it’s a little dull besides Mim running away to go see her bio mother in Colorado after hearing that she had a disease. She packed up and ran while stealing money from her step-mother. It was how the husband was looking for validation because of the smallest thing he did to help his wife. Like when she cut her thumb and he was rushing to get a band-aid for her, he was looking for validation that he was doing good by her. Today I went to this fun museum and saw a ton of cool pieces. My favorite would have to be “Vancouver Kissing Couple ” by Richard Lam. Here’s a picture of it!
This (photograph/poem/painting/movie) shows (describe it) A couple kissing in the middle of a riot, while police are moving away from the couple.
It really stood out to me because cops didn’t try to move them.
I also like that the (artist/photographer/director/etc.) focused on both the blur of the front most police officer and the couple on the ground. Overall, I really liked all the pieces! It is a murder mystery by Karen M. McManus. There are four characters (suspects), were all in the room when Simon died, and they all had something against him. The police suspect all four of them, most eyes are on the drug dealer who's on probation. Out of the four characters I'm focusing on Bronwyn and the way she questions her identity is because she cheated on one test and Simon had seen her do it, yet never published anything on his blog. Although it was never posted, Bronwyn felt like a horrible person and was considered her most difficult object to overcome. Along with her parents now upset with her and the police investigating whether or not she is guilt of the crime. 

A very critical moment is when she admits to cheating on her test with answers that were open on the computer the teacher had recently used to look over the test answers, in front of her parents and the police. She doesn't feel like the smartest girl who's set up for an ivy league school. The imagery is a little kid with their head angled down and hand folded together in their lap. 

I can relate to this character, I might have had an identity crisis when I was little. I started to realize there was someone in my life that meant more to a few people than I did but I didn’t realize it back then. So when I started to see it more I felt incredibly lonely. 

This reminds me of a movies called, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkanban. Where in the movie Harry Potter, regardless of being the main character, is favored over others around him in his life in the movie. Also in this movie and the book I’m reading both show a single person or group going against authorities, by either going behind their backs and doing what they were told not to do or by deliberately doing it out of spite.]]> 2023-02-23 15:38:26 UTC https://padlet.com/lbelott000/mw3uq970zgy5wgm2/wish/2492749091
