I have developed an understanding of adobe software through graphics workshops and have also acquired drawing skills and knowledge of the formal elements, such as composition and colour, through life drawing sessions, allowing me to create strong illustrated responses throughout my work. My knowledge of graphics techniques has increased, helping me to create a higher quality response to the FMP. At the start of this course my understanding of how to structure my sketchbook was minimal, however I now understand how to effectively layout my work. For this concept I aim to create a storyboard/Illustration inspired by a Chinese fantasy novel or fable, by the end of the project. To achieve this I will research different books and stories that take place in Chinese fantasy worlds. I will also research settings and scenery in a Chinese fantasy world to inform my ideas. I will explore different depictions of Chinese fantasy worlds across various media types to gather an understanding of how to portray this world effectively. Researching both digital and traditional artists will also be important context for my project, as relevant artist research can inspire ideas and techniques that can be used in design ideas. For my final outcome I plan to create a traditional hand drawn piece, for this I will need drawing materials such as pencils, pens, inks. I also plan to explore working digital, in which I will need tools such as a drawing tablet and Adobe Illustrator. However I am aware throughout this project my ideas and the availability of equipment could change unexpectedly, so I will use this as a base idea of what I plan for my final outcome whilst still considering that this may change and adapt over time.
