No one is denied digital access. However, some individuals may have more limited access because not all technology users have equal opportunities.

We should all strive for equal digital rights and support electronic access for all individuals.

Example: Attending a library where any registered individual can have access to computers that are available to the public.

* Digital Etiquette= appropriate conduct  

* Rules and regulations are created to stop or prevent inappropriate use                      

* We have to teach users to become responsible digital citizens due to rules and regulations not being followed properly.                                                                                                     Ex: Digital etiquette can be followed by using appropriate language when posting information on any social site, like Twitter and Facebook.

With the rise of the new digital economy, users need to know how to be effective consumers. There has been a rise in shopping on the internet as well as inappropriate usage that has occurred as a conflict with laws and morals.

Example: Illegally downloading movies and music on the internet vs. using the internet legally and with good intentions such as buying music and movies off of iTunes.

*Stealing or causing to other people's work, identity, or property online is a crime        

*These laws apply to anyone that plays or works online                                                                        

Ex: Digital law can be followed by being responsible for your own actions and leaving other people's work alone. User should not hack into other people's information, plagiarize, or download illegal music.

Due to the expansion of technology , new forms of communication have increased such as e-mail, cell phones, and instant messaging. People are now able to communicate in a faster and much more convenient manner if they have access to technology. The downside has been that several individuals do not know how to properly and appropriately use these forms of communication.

Example: Texting someone is much more efficient than calling someone especially if the person prefers to text instead of speak on the phone.

* There are basic set of rights created for every digital citizen

*Digital citizens have the right to free speech and privacy

*Users should help define how technology should be used in an appropriate manner

Ex: Users have the right to share what they are thinking and feeling, which is the right to free speech, on sites like Facebook and Twitter. With this element, users should use appropriate language and respect other people's privacy online.

A focus should be placed on how technology should be used. Recently, more common forms of technology have been in the workplace such as online sharing. This therefore should be reinforced by having workers learn the proper ways in which to use technology quickly and appropriately. Everyone should have a high degree of information literacy skills.

Example: Having a staff meeting in order to inform all the workers of how to properly use technology while still having the ability to use it to its maximum appropriate potential.

* Issues in this type of society include: eye safety, repetitive stress syndrome, sound ergonomic practices, and internet addiction

* Users are taught to protect themselves by education and training

Ex: An appropriate action for this element would be to only spend a certain amount of time on the internet daily and to not get addicted to social media sites, like Facebook and Twitter

Considering we do what is necessary in order to protect ourselves, such as using locks on our doors, we should do the same when it comes to using technology. Virus protection, data backups, and surge control on equipment is extremely necessary in order to be fully protected. By doing so, all users protect their information from harmful outside sources.

Example: Buying a registered anti-virus to use on one's computer in order to use the internet safely and without potential risks for harm or fraud.
