He shows this by making 4 out of 5 say the wrong answer mentally forcing the 5th person to say the wrong answer instead of having there own original thoughts. If the the 5th person says the wrong answer the others will see him as being in a out group but the 5th person wants to be in a in group and to not feel awkward so they go with everyone else.

I strongly agree that conformity proves humans to be social beings. In the Asch experiment, subjects knew that the rest of the group had the incorrect answer yet proceeded to give that same answer. Many only gave the answer because of the social pressures they received when they said the correct answer aloud. Humans also separate themselves to go into social groups whether that be an in group or an out group.

They will conform to social groups that they want to be apart of. From Asch’s experiment we learned that an individual will choose to side with the group base on the facts the groups give which influences them to change their position, or they will side with the group base on fear of criticism from the group. People do not like standing along or being different so they will always socialize/conform.

Here the motivation was that the players were being bribed with money, everytime they hurt someone they were rewarded with money. Also, there was a very large group of players taking part in this so the larger the group, the harder it is to say no, because of the pressure of wanting to fit in with your teammates. They were also under the direction of their coaches, knowing their coach was in charge of their future, they felt like they had to listen to them.

Growing up i was told to listen to my elders and respect them, but only if I know that they are reliable, I was taught not to obey strangers who looked a little shady. Obedience to me is not inherited but its’ one of the learned abilities that we learn at a young age and keep building up on it.
