(Ignore the harsh words being used in this article, I found it interesting)

🐵Title of article: what is the monkeysphere?

🐒Source: Jason pargin

⏭️PREVIEWING:

from the title and the first few lines I expected this article to be generalizing how the human brain works by connecting it with the research the scientist had made with monkeys social interaction, hence, the 'monkeysphere'. An over simplification of how the human brain works and why they feel justified of the crime they did as summarized as the first lines given.

🏴SKIMMING:

The main idea of 'monkeysphere' is that humans circle are limited to a certain amount of people, meaning those who are not apart of their 'monkeysphere' are not worthy of their attention. It gets to a certain point where no matter how much of an empath you are, you just wont care. Thus, the birth of crimes and whatnot existing because the people involved are not of their concern.

🏳SCANNING:

Specific details found in the article:

-"there's a certain point where you will no longer really care if one of them dies.

So how many monkeys would it take before you stopped caring?

That's not a rhetorical question. We actually know the number."

-"Most monkeys operate in troupes of 50 or so. But somebody slipped them a slightly larger brain and they estimated the ideal group or society for this particular animal was about 150.

That brain, of course, was human."

-""Why should I feel bad for them? I don't even know those people!"

Exactly. This is so ingrained that to even suggest you should feel their deaths as deeply as that of your best friend sounds a little ridiculous. We are hard-wired to have a drastic double standard for the people inside our Monkeysphere versus the 99.999% of the world's population who are on the outside."

-"there are different species of monkeys, its easier to put them in one stereotypes rather than seeing them as different individuals, which is how racism is created"

🏁MAIN IDEA AND SUPPORTING DETAILS:

-main idea: human's social interaction and connection are limited, people who are outside of their circles are difficult to be conceptualize as people so they dont feel as much for them as for the people they care about.

1) take politician for example, they make decision based of their own good and often doesn't take account to the negative effects that'll happen to their people.

2) the existence of racism, the action to put a group of people into one stereotypes, claiming that theyre bad just because a person couldn't handle the difference is proof enough.
