The play will be a perfectly near transcription of the original play by Shakespeare's. Since it will be a musical there will be a lot of songs and dances intertwined within the script. The play will follow the exact script as the original, with included scenes with choreography and songs. No changes in time period will be needed. The vision for the play would be to take the Naturalistic. Since hamlet is a full production play the Director proposes the budget being more of an extravagant type. Taken that the play will be a musical production , the biggest portion of the budget will be broken down for the different sceneries and costume changes

The Director's vision of the play is set to take place somewhere between the end of the Victorian Era and the outbreak of World War I. Along with the set, the costumes help tell the

audience where the play is set & what time period the play is set in.

My Approach as the artist:
My main inspiration is taken from Ancient Greece and the Romantic Middle Ages. The middle ages were a time where society was more bound to ceremony which the idea of the gown came from. I wanted to portray the feminine characters as striking and romantic and including simplicity to convey the feminine power.

As the costume designer I categorized the directors view through the expression of the characters costume. Looking at each characters color scheme, texture, and style period, the costumes where put together to establish the directors view. The audience should be left with a clear understanding of the characters individual personality and what role they are playing in the production. Through color, texture, and style the audience can get a visual representation to the characters emotions and personality through out the play.
