Two Truths and a Lie

Students get in groups and share two true facts about themselves and one falsehood. They challenge others to guess the falsehood.

Collage

Have each student cut out a picture from a magazine that represents them. Afterwards, as a class, make a collage with all of the pictures. The result will create a classroom identity!

Community circle

Sit students in a circle and have them share on a particular topic.

Team names and cheers

Toilet paper game

Pretend you are going on a camping trip. Each student decides how many pieces of toilet paper they need. Pass the paper roll around. For every piece they took they must say something about themselves.

License Plate

Show the students some license plates from around the world. They then produce their own personal plate that represents them. 3 letters, 3 numbers, a slogan and an image that represents them

Puzzle game

Make a cut out of a puzzle. Give each student a piece of the puzzle and have them describe one of their strengths. Make a collage of the puzzle pieces to demonstrate how their different strengths unite them as a class.

My Summer Selfie

Print out Polaroid templates and hand one to each student. Have them close their eyes and think about their favourite summer memory. Have them draw a selfie during this summer memory.

Discussion with a song

Students find a song that represents them or an important moment of their lives. We listen to an extract of each song and the student explains the reason for his or her choice.

Hula-hoop challenge:

A minimum of two teams face off. Every player of a team must form a line and hold hands with the people next to them. The challenge: each player must pass through a hula-hoop without letting go of their partners' hand. The fastest team wins.

Rope Challenge:

Students form teams. Each team needs to work together to bring each member over a rope that is slightly above the ground.

The Human Knot

Everybody puts their hands in the middle of the circle and grabs two random hands. The group has to climb over and under everyone to untangle the knot and become a circle.

Icebreaker jenga

In the summer, I did...

This game is basically based on the game “Je vais à l'épicerie et j'achète...”. We sit in a circle (or set the desks in a circle) and everybody shares one activity they did in the summer. Then, the next person has to name his/her activity and tell the activities of his/her peers in the reverse order. It's a memory game but it also gets each student to express himself/herself and to hear about the others. If the student is confident enough or want to have more fun with his students, he could be at the end of the circle and repeat everyone's summer activities and share his/her own summer activity.
