We did a readers theater today and we used puppets and props to create the scene. This supports fluency through expression because you have to act out the scenes from the story. They have to use dialogue and punctuation to form what they are going to say. They use comprehension when understanding the meaning of the story. They can also be creative with it too and change the characters if they want!

Readers theater can be used to get children excited about reading. It can help with fluency because the children have to know what is happening within the book In order to develop their theater. We acted out the book “going on a leaf hunt” to show an example of readers theater and how it could be used in a kindergarten classroom.

We chose a book that children could relate to; all children should be going to the dentist. The images represented the words so they would be able to tell the story from the pictures if they do not know the words. The sentences were structured shortly so it is easy for children to read but it is actually memorized.

We did a readers theatre with the leaf hunt book. Readers theatre can support fluency because it allows students to practice their writing skills in a fun and interesting way. It supports their writing because the children can work together to write a script. While writing the script, students can work on and practice using their phonics skills in a light hearted way.

This book and reader's theater supports fluency for a multitude of reasons. For one, by acting out the characters, one must have a great understanding of the book and relating it to things you could see in real life. Another reason it supports fluency is working with others in designing a play that everyone can understand and take part in with different characters.

Readers Theater:
Before taking Dr. B's class last semester I had no idea what readers theater was and when introduced to it I was not too excited. Upon doing my first readers theater last semester I ended up liking it a lot! So for this ticket I will be stating why it supports children's fluency. To begin a readers theater a students must read the book which would reflect their comprehension abilities to take the text and make it come to life. Also, while reading the phonics skills would be apparent in the basic ability to read the words on the page. Writing is also practiced as the student would write a script in order to act it out producing a readers theater.

Tik tok- refer to video posted by Mirm. This was a lot of fun to make. It supports fluency because we had to read the book and them come up with what we wanted to say in the tik tok. Students get as many attempts as they want on tik tok as well so they get lots of practice if they mess up and then supports students to practice until they can say their line fluently. This hits all parts of fluency because you need to read, write a script and then be able to speak fluently using all the rules of English.

The book as well as the reader's theater helps to promote fluency in the classroom. When students are fluent in reading, they are not only able to read well, but they are able to understand the text. So by doing a readers theater and acting out the parts of the books, it provides an opportunity for students to showcase their understanding of the book!

We did a readers theatre with the book "Going on a leaf hunt". By doing a readers theatre, it gives students the chance to work on their fluency by giving them the opportunity work on the accuracy of their reading, the rate at which they read or recite their lines, the expression they use for different characters, and following punctuation rules. The book we used would also be a great way to get students active by going on a leaf hunt of their own after doing the readers theatre.

I was unable to attend class last week, but one idea that I had was having your students read to younger students. To start we as teachers can model reading book using extremely good fluency skills. Then, have students pick out a book that they could read to younger students. Here, the older students can really work on their expression, pausing at commas and pausing at periods.
