As mentioned in the lecture 25% of some companies Ad budget is pumped into search. This money then monitored via ROAS. That being said, Google’s lack of transparency, causes a diminishing total for companies who are using their services. The only way Google can be this successful with this lack of transparency is because they are operating in an oligopoly or close to a monopoly.

With that being said, can Google do this in foreign markets beyond the EU and US? Considering the rise of Amazon in recent years, as we have discussed in previous classes, I would have liked more time devoted to their paid advertising. Does it have a quality score like the a Google paid search? Is their cost per click calculated though a similar auction method to Google? Some more time devoted to voice search could also have been interesting however with the low usage of voice search in comparison to other search methods I understand the lack of time spent on this topic.

From our discussion today and reading this weeks case study I would like to know more about the use of SEA in combined with complimentary products from competitors. I believe the cross selling strategy on reseller sites shown for example by Bose is interesting as it opens up new dimensions and/or avenues to SEA. I would alos like to know more about advertising in general on Amazon. I found it suprising that 25% of Amazon's sales come from advertising and would like to learn more about their SEA

Given our discussion today regarding SEA I would like to know more about how paid and organic search engine optimisation can be used together to create an even stronger campaign and what would be a good strategy to use to go about this. I would also like to know more about the issue regarding the lack of transparency as to how Google Ads allocates funds and whether advertisers should have a right to view how their money is allocated.

I would like to know more about how businesses new to SEA can improve their quality score in other areas given that one of the elements google base the quality score on is historical performance. Again relating to quality score I would like to know how businesses with low budgets in a competitive market can improve their quality score to compete against competitors with big budgets who are able to pay higher prices for CPC.

What are the limitations of using split testing?

Can the effectiveness of using split testing be affected by factors such as time, demographic or other dynamic variables? How can we be positive that the success of one campaign is due to a change in words rather than the previously listed factors? This could potentially be countered by using a larger sample group.

In regards to SEA issues, I think that it would be interesting to see how companies that may not have the resources to pay for an AdWords campaign compete with larger organizations. I think it would also be beneficial to us to learn about how we could use deep linked pages through keywords and how these work in favor of the organization running the campaign.
