    U.S v. Mississippi
    • To prove certain state constitutional provisions and other laws were designed to prevent African American's from voting
    • It was viewed as a "Frontal Attack" on the State of Mississippi by the Federal Court  from 2 out of 3 district judges.
    • Eventually viewed before the Supreme Court 
    • They decided the Civil Rights Act of 1957 was constitutional under the 15th Amendment and the Supreme Court could bring suit against Mississippi.

It was way easier to feel like you have a say when the government is behind you.
