Atkins</div><ul><li>found that 8,597/14,400 whites and 242/15,115 African American were registered to vote in Dallas, Texas.</li><li>In 1965, they found that 1,516 more blacks were registered than in 1961</li></ul><div>U.S v. Mississippi</div><ul><li>To prove certain state constitutional provisions and other laws were designed to prevent African American's from voting</li><li>It was viewed as a "Frontal Attack" on the State of Mississippi by the Federal Court  from 2 out of 3 district judges.</li><li>Eventually viewed before the Supreme Court </li><li>They decided the Civil Rights Act of 1957 was constitutional under the 15th Amendment and the Supreme Court could bring suit against Mississippi.</li></ul>]]></description>
