I learned a lot out of just one song, how Hamilton started off with barely nothing, yearned for a better life, and went to New York to get an education. There's one scene in the video where Brendon (the man in the video) helps a frail old lady cross the street. Shortly after the mayor gives him the key to city. Sometimes we all feel like we've done something good but no one else sees it that way. That's how I relate a bit to the song.

It was at my culmination that my teachers put on a surprise slideshow and they played “You Got a Friend in Me” by Randy Newman.  It was graduation day for me and I could not wait to leave my elementary school.  I wanted to leave all my friends behind and start fresh. When I was at the ceremony, as I began watching the slideshow I realized I was going to miss my classmates.  Even though I was not friends with all my classmates, I grew up with all of them and I knew that junior high would not be the same without them.  So many memories were made.

This song will forever remain a big pat of my life. When I was in 7th grade, I had a couple of friends but I was too shy to actually interact with anyone besides those few friends. Then I joined band, it helped me be happy and I found it as a way to avoid interaction with other people. However, I had a strong urge to meet new friends but I knew I just wasn't confident enough. Then one day, one of my friends in band showed me this song. The tone of the baritone saxophone was enough to ignite something within me. I felt like I had something to strive for and I wanted to reach that goal. So for that entire year, I would stay after school and practice my instrument. From there I met multiple new band friends. Then they introduced me to more friends. If you search up the number “1-800-273-8255” it is the National Suicidal Prevention Lifeline. Near the end of the song, he starts talking about how he doesn’t want to die now because no matter what, his life is precious and even though things are tough you got to fight through it and there will good things that comes with bad things. When I had just came back from mexico my brother gave me his mp3 player that had some hip hop songs and this song really caught my attention and got me into the hip hop style and rap and I started to check out more songs similar from the artist and I started listening to even more of these type of songs. This one got me interested into hip hop and rap. The slow piano in the beginning of the song and then kind of some hard core turne of a guitar and the lyrics of the song were so connected to the beat and everything, I just loved this style of music. The first song that changed my life was “Someday” by Nickelback. This song changed my life as a kid because when I was in the 6th grade when my cousin passed away in my arms. I see this song as my escape from all the pain because this song by Nickelback helps me know that I will see him someday again in the future. When he died that’s when I became a gangster for revenge. I remember seeing what happened it was my cousin, his friends, and I we were all chilling at the park when gangsters came up and started shooting. My cousin was the one that jumped in front of me to take all the bullets. So as time passed by I wanted to go out and kill for my cousin but my uncle played “Someday” by Nickelback and I sat and listened to the music and played it over because it helped me escape all the bad thoughts.

He became my best friend the only person that was there for me no matter what. He showed me how to value my family even though I wasn't really close to them. He helped me out with my mom when things weren't going as how I wanted. 
When I'm with him I always forget about my problems, he always makes me laugh with his jokes and stories. 
He always tells me this when I'm sad “Everything is going to be fine don't worry”

In this song, Lecrae talks about how he struggled with depression and wanted to end his life, but his friends helped him through everything that he has been through. I relate to this song because I have been depressed since 7th grade, but it wasn't extreme until 9th grade. My grades dropped and I didn't want any communication with anyone at all. Everyone thought I was okay because I had a "smile" on my face. This led me to cut myself and think about suicide until I was called up to the counselors office. This song told me that there's no reason to think about suicide because you have friends who will help you through the battle.
