In this scene there is a photo montage of Chris Rock's children Lola and Zahra. Chris then explains how his daughter Lola came up to him and said "Dad how come I don't have good hair". This shows how societies expectations of beauty is corrupting and damaging children's self esteem and thoughts. This allows the viewer to feel empathy as children are seen as pure and innocent.

In the scene the interviewee talks about how they want their ‘African American’ hair to look like European hair, the theme of when it comes to what is considered beautiful white culture dominates is present.

5. The scene wants to the viewer to react shocked and sympathetics towards how people grew up thinking they didn't have a ‘good hair’. They want people to react sympathetic so that people feel bad for them, and therefore continue to watch the documentary

6. There could possible be some biased in the scene as they don't asked any kids about how they see their hair and if they like it the way it is.

7. Montage, mise-en-scene, archival footage, interviews
