The CAPP3 patient call log required reviewing records of nearly 100 patients for the CAPP3 clinical trial. I completed the call log in 2–3 days despite the task being expected to take much longer. This demonstrates my efficiency, punctuality, and attention to detail. It also reflects how I managed digital systems such as EPIC and REDCap, and adhered to privacy and accuracy standards in clinical documentation.

I observed a colonoscopy procedure during my placement, which gave me insight into how clinical trials intersect with real-time medical diagnostics. I asked questions throughout to expand my understanding of the procedure, preparation, and patient interaction. This experience deepened my curiosity about internal imaging and connected directly to my career goals in radiography.

During my clinical trials placement at RMH, I had the opportunity to assist with both urine pH testing and blood sample incubation. I conducted pH testing using dipsticks and followed hygiene protocols carefully to ensure accurate results and safe sample handling. For blood incubation, I assisted in placing samples in the centrifuge and preparing them for further testing. These tasks required precision, awareness of lab safety, and clear communication with the team to avoid cross-contamination or errors.

This experience improved my technical lab skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail, while also developing my understanding of clinical workflows in trial settings. It helped me make real-world links between the biomedical knowledge I’ve gained at university and its application in professional healthcare environments, especially in preparation for a radiography career.
