Each method has its pros and cons (there’s not a 100% guarantee with any type of birth control).***
All women & men can “have control over when, and if, they become parents” (P.g 8). To get started, learn about birth control methods you or your partner can use to prevent pregnancy. You can also “talk with your doctor about the choices” (P.g 8).

Only condoms have been proven to “reduce the risk of getting some STDs” (P.g 9) According to the HHS Office on Women's Health, the “male latex condom is the best method for protecting against STDs, including HIV/AIDS” (P.g 9). The most common STD is the human papilloma virus, or HPV. No method of contraception can fully prevent the transmission of HPV, because it can infect areas not covered by a condom. However, using a condom with every sex act can “lower the risk of transmission” (P.g 9).

I knew of someone that had gotten an unintentional pregnancy because they were in too much of a rush and decided to skip over some things. The parents were absolutely furious and had decided to think about what they would do now. The girl was absolutely devastated and felt extremely embarrassed. The biggest lesson is to make sure that you have everything prepared in case something happens and if not do precautions before hand so you won’t have to regret anything later.
