One of the primary challenges we face in creating learning spaces at our campuses is developing new and engaging activities. Designing activities that are not repetitive and distinct from those at other campuses can be quite challenging. Additionally, we strive to ensure that these activities are both interesting and fun for the students while also promoting learning. Coming up with innovative activity ideas each time is a complex task.

If we could access some interesting resources or ideas for creating new and engaging activities, it would greatly help us in this endeavor

In Sarjapur,

There are different levels of students on campus: boot camp students, rejoined students, module-studying students, and very new students. During goal-setting and reflection sessions, students who have been here for more than a year and some rejoined students are not very supportive.

When we plan coding quizzes, many students feel that it is a waste of time. Additionally, around 25 new students do not understand English, and I am unable to communicate with them in Hindi.

Last week, I was responsible for handling all campus activities and hackathons by myself. This included creating and updating usernames and data in sheets, conducting screening tests at different times, and managing new student arrivals. It was especially challenging because the campus LSA was not available to help, making the workload very hectic.

Recently, we introduced a house and reward system on campus. It will take some time for everyone to get accustomed to it.

Conducting learning activities is a good way of learning new things, and revising topics by playing an interesting game. Students like playing such activities and enjoy them.

Finding activity is the biggest challenge I face. We have to think a lot about which activity we should conduct. We discuss with each other, we get help from ChatGpt. It gives ideas, but we have to think a lot about how can we implement the ideas which are little time-consuming, sometimes if the activity is long it takes time to prepare.

The first challenge we face is coming up with an activity that is engaging, ensuring that students participate with full energy. After that, we need to consider how realistic it is to conduct this activity. Will the students learn something from it? Will they enjoy it? We have to keep all these factors in mind when deciding on an activity. Once the activity is decided, a lot of preparation is required. We must conduct the activity with complete confidence and preparation. If anything is missed, it can lead to significant conflicts, so it's essential to always have a backup plan. During the activity, we often realise that we could have made it better.. During the activity, we often realise that there are ways we could have improved it. Many times, we find an activity very useful and enjoyable, but we struggle to find a way to implement it in reality. If everything goes according to plan, making decisions or reaching results isn't difficult. However, if a conflict arises, determining the winner becomes very challenging.

The best thing about our campus is that we don't have to worry about whether students will participate or not. They actively participate in every activity.

These activities help students learn better by doing things hands-on and strengthen their understanding. They also encourage teamwork and support among students. It’s great to see them actively involved and excited. Giving immediate feedback helps students learn quickly from their mistakes. These activities make learning fresh and engaging, creating a positive and motivating environment.

But there are some challenges too. Coming up with new and different ideas each time can be tough. Preparing for the activity, managing time, and making sure everything runs smoothly can be challenging. Keeping all students engaged and making sure they participate can be hard. It’s also important to prepare all materials ahead of time and balance the difficulty of the questions so they’re not too easy or too hard.

We conducted three learning space activities on campus. Students enjoyed the activities and learned new things. Although we put a lot of thought into them, some small details were overlooked, which made me feel less productive at times. One challenge was when two students from Module 6b came to me with questions, and sometimes I couldn’t solve their doubts. In pair programming, I sit with students to solve their doubts. I learned a lot from this, but it took up a lot of time. I mostly pair with two to three students every day.
