Food and agriculture organization (FAO) of the UN:
Food waste: Refers to food appropiate for human consumption being discarded, wether or not after it is kept beyond it's expiry date or left to spoil. Often this is because food has spoiled but it can be for other reasons such as oversupply due to markets, or individual consumer shopping/ eating habits.
Inavoidable: for consumption - why it happens?
Avoidable: not for consumption - Peels and other parts of food. They can be composted.

1/3 of the food produced is waste -> 1.3 tons per year

Commodity activism: Practice where citizen engagement is performed through everyday consumption. It's logic is articulated when social causes are reshaped in order to fall within the rational of capitalism.

Eco-habitus: Productive set of values, everyday practices and tastes corresponding to a specific "lifestyle". Individuals produce and reproduce them, reinforcing the social value.

High cultural capital consumer > priviliged position (includes ethical component) > symbolic boundaries (What happens in Denmark?) * > purchase of sustainable goods

* People/ society:
Framed by laws and government.
The poor are more or less completely excluded from the possibility of making lifestyle choices.
This project will include everyone, based on examples, basic education and group action, together we are stronger.

Food waste is a global problem at the moment and has created growing concerns about its
impacts on the environment, society and the economy. Food production is resource intensive
and requires a lot of resources, hence the waste of food means wastage of the resources used
during production. Apart from that, food waste also has serious implications on the
environment like soil erosion, deforestation, land, air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions
(Mourad, 2016). Food waste reduction not only help to reduce global hunger but also helps in
reducing considerable amount of greenhouse gases emission (Schanes et al., 2016).
