Before developing a PD, "poll the focus group about their professional development needs" (Prather, 2015). Taking this into account for my DTTP I now understand that by allowing adults to become more involved with the content choice, they will be more willing to learn the material.

When it comes to learning new things, adults have developed their own techniques to assist them in their learning process. Considering this factor, I am planning to use teachers' background to provide PD that correlates with their experience in order to have a better connection and results as I will know where teachers have done, and what else they can accomplish.

"Adults are more willing to learn something that will assist them in solving an immediate issue" (Toister 2016). With this in mind, all of the PD lessons/ classes in my DTTP will be concentrated in facilitating tools that cut down time, energy and extra work on their behalf and focuses more on their students doing their part to acquire knowledge with effectiveness.

If adults feel as though the information that they are learning will not directly benefit them, they are less likely to retain the information, much less be interested in learning it. By knowing this and applying this concept in combination with the other 5 principles of Andragogy and placing them into an eLearning course, I can "obtain maximum learner engagement and motivation." (Pappas. 2013).
