The polling mechanism is simple: every answer in your poll has a unique number, and students text that number to Poll Everywhere’s 6-digit short code. You and watch the results roll in, live.

Polleverywhere is similar to Mentimenter. You ask your students a question, they respond, and the results appear instantly and anonymously. The survey graphs dynamically resize themselves according to the latest results, which is quite fun to watch as a group.

The idea behind this presentation style is to show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images advance automatically and the presenter(s) leverage these images as they talk. This is an effective strategy to help students summarize information and present it in a simple and engaging format. Working on teams of two or more, students use Google images from the Internet to create a Pecha Kucha presentation.

The purpose of this strategy is for students to explain a concept or synthesize knowledge and understanding in their own words through illustrations and simple annotation.

Just like the name implies, this technique actually involves the sliding of papers to create a movie. Students are placed into a group to illustrate visuals on blank paper, write scripts that explain these “slides”, and then videotape the delivery of the script while moving the slides in time with the narration.

The paper slide activity incorporates both the visual and oral sequencing and retelling of a story or concept, fostering collaboration.

Teachers post topics to spark the conversation and students respond with short videos. You begin by creating a grid. Think of a grid as a class or content area, and think of a topic within a grid as a unit, lesson, or activity. You can have multiple topics within a single grid. Students will love recording themselves!
