Mr. Hawkins definitley was my favorite. He was always smiling, always joking in class, always coming and messing up my sand castel or try to wake me up from my sleep by pulling a little strand of my hair, he loved messing with me lol. During this year, he went out of his way ALL THE TIME to make sure his students were Okay even though he wasn't himself. He even had an impact on parents because how envolved and helpful he was, he would sit there and actually listen to your opinion, thoughts, or feelings and he could connect with you. Words can not describe how confusing and shocking this is. Hawkins was hands down one of the best teachers i have encountered. He always motivated me to keep going even though times got tough. He always made sure to let me know how proud he was after all i went through. I will forever appreciate and remember everything he did for me. He was way more than just a teacher. He was mentor and a friend to many of us. Always going out of his way for others and making sure others were okay. Encouraging students and others to live everyday with courage. There was never one bad moment with Hawkins. I met Hawkins in my 7th grade year because he was always around my sisters and they really loved him and were always telling me a story about him. When i go into 8th grade that´s when me and him started to bond. I joined Troop and he was the club advisor so i would always see him and he was always cracking jokes, laughing, or really anything that would make others happy. Then in my freshmen year i was in his Ace class and every single period he would be the topic of what we were doing. He always help us, planned trips for us, and always put a smile on someones face. Mr Hawkins will be missed by everyone who he has come across.

today Mr. Hawkins was one of the hardest days that i have ever felt, this morning when i received the news that you have passed away was so unreal to me. I still cant get that through my mind that your not going to be here with us anymore.. you were always there to check up on me when i was having a hard day, you would always have a way to make me smile and forget about what was going on. i remember when you were always in my class putting a smile on everybody's face always making jokes with everybody, i wanna thank you for all the advice you have gave me. Mr Hawkins was probably one of the teachers in the building that advocated for his students the most. He played a big part of my academic success by motivating me and believing that whatever I was setting my mind to I was gonna do. No amount of words can explain what an amazing, kind and honorable person he was. He got me my first job, always put a smile on my face and always made sure I was getting done what had to get done. Carter and him will always be two of the most influential people in my life and I will always be thankful for all of the advice he shared with me throughout the years.

This year was my first time having Mr.Hawkins as a teacher. Not only did he become my teacher but he also became my friend. I remember in class he sat down next to me and always ask how I am doing and then we would always talk about sports which was one of the things we both loved. Mr.Hawkins also really loved his students and staff and brought a smile to all of our faces. Everyday he would check up on his students and put us first to make sure everything was okay and if we ever needed anything he will be there for us. I have sometimes been talking to him, but never quite knew him as much, which I will regret every time I hear his name for not taking that opportunity. But when I did see him, he's really nice and has a good personality when others especially my friends sometimes mentioned about him. I'm sure he was so nice to many kinds of my classmates or anyone else. This unfortunate moment, shows how little time people will have with someone they cared for or a loved one. Time ticks and life moves on, people may not know if their loved one or anyone they cared for, will be gone too soon. Mr. Hawkins was a great guy. He has really helped me in life. Hawkins gave me hope and power. That power was making me want to graduate. Before i met him and Ms carter all i did was thinking about dropping out. He was 1 of the only 2 teachers who I wanted to see me graduate. Everyday i had ACE and he was there, we always made jokes and talked about multiple different things. He was one of the people i looked up to and i am glad i had got to meet him. Their is not enough words to explain how hard this is.Hawkins was one of the teachers that i can count on we had a good bond to our good moments and our jokes between each other its crazy how one day your here and the other day now your gone its happening to fast but i know you are in a better place you will always be in my heart.The last time a talked we were making fun of each other and Ms.carter would get mad about our jokes and then you gave me this red pen that you told me to take care of and to this day i still have it now that your not here i know that i have a little piece of you to take with me.Thank you for all our good moments for putting that smile in my face during those hard moment i thought i would not get through.Forever in our Hearts,and blessings from above Rest In Peace Mr.Hawkins.<3

I didn't really know him but my ELA teacher told my class that he was an advocate and fought for equality in the school and the community. He helped a lot for the nearly 2 decades he was here. Rest In Power, you will be missed Mr. Hawkins

Me and Mr. Hawkins were starting to grow closer to each other as the semester went by, I remember him being so interested in what I was saying and it felt so nice to be heard, it felt so nice to feel welcomed by him and Ms.Carter´s, it was something I never truly had, a connection with a teacher like him.

I remember the time where he said that he was kind of a psychic and told me that he could feel that I was meant for big things, that I was going to succeed so much in life and that is something that’s going to stick with me forever, those words meant so much for me, he always made my days better and that’s something ill always cherish.

I wish I could thank him for everything, for making me feel motivated, for making me feel like going to school every day, for helping me, and for giving me advice.

He gain a really big part in my heart and it will always stay like that

Mr. Hawkins was one of the most caring, outgoing, and spirited individuals that I've ever known, not just as a teacher, but as a person. Every single day he took time to make sure that the community around him was doing okay, and if they were not, be would be willing to fix it any way he could. The last conversation I had with him was about how it is okay to speak my mind at certain times and that it is alright to not always keep everything in, and for that, I am super thankful. Even besides this, Mr. Hawkins always gave me the best advice and always made my day better, and I could never thank him enough for that. Once a Saint, always a Saint... he will be missed amongst many and we will continue to carry his spirit and vivid personality throughout the community. Rest in peace Mr. Hawkins, God bless you!

Mr. Hawkins was a legend. When I first started working at Jefferson a few years ago, I’d go out in the community to buy things for our school, or to set-up events for our students. Wherever I was, when people found out that I was from Jefferson, a common response was to ask if Mr. Hawkins was still there. When I confirmed that he was, people’s faces would light up, and they’d often share stories about something wonderful he’d done for them, and the impact that he’d had on their lives. These experiences became routine for me, and I realized that because of my connection to Robert, I was fortunate to start many interactions in our community with some instant clout and trust. Robert was a role model to all with the kindness, compassion, calmness, and warmth that he exuded. He was someone who was easy to connect with, and he had a way of making you feel like you’d known each other a lot longer than you really had. He will be deeply missed

I was in 8th grade when i first met Mr. Hawkins i was in detention for fighting and was the only girl in the room and he thought that was funny and he asked me why i was in detention and i told him i got into a fight then he asked me if i won the fight i was like yeah of course and we started laughing but then he told me that i was too pretty to be fighting and that i shouldn't be in detention with all these boys and we talked more about what i wanted to do in the future and he made me realize that i can achieve my dreams and do whatever i wanted in life i wish we would've talked more but he was such a great person he always made you laugh or said hi to in the halls when he walked in he would the brighten the whole room and put everyone in a good mood may he rest in peace and condolences to his family.

Mr Hawkins was not just a staff member he was a friend. He made everyone’s day with just a “ Hey was up bro” in the hallways. I still remember when he would stop me in the hallways to talk and joke around. With that he would change May Day. You will be missed Mr Hawkings.

This was my first time having Mr.Hawkins as my teacher. Not only did he become my teacher he also became my friend. In class I remember him sitting next to me and always ask me how I'm doing and then we would talk about sports which was something we both loved. He always made my day and knew how to put a smile on my face. Hawkins also loved his students and staff and treated us all like family. He would put his students first and made sure that we would become successful in not only school but life. He was so giving and amazing. I'm very very thankful for him and for what he has done. Hawkins was such an advocate for students and staff alike at Jefferson, and his Diversity Assembly was always incredible. We could not have had a middle school sports program without his van for transportation. He made things possible for people and truly impacted those around him. We will miss you Hawkins. The first I ever met when coming to this school was Hawkins, he was so excited to have a coach in the building that would care for the kids and the program as he did. He would constantly stop by my room and ask about the upcoming game and how the boys were doing. He supported us and cared for the team. He was a man who would ask you about your day and genuinely care about your answer. His light will be truly missed in this world. Thank you so much.

I never knew Mr. Hawkins but I knew he was a very impactful person in our school. Every time I saw him he looked happy and you could really tell he genuinely loved his job, spending time with students, and teachers. RIP Hawkins.

Robert was one of the most genuine people I have ever known. He cared so much for others and he showed that innately every single day. I will personally miss the comical check-in's we would have with one another. He made sure that I knew he cared about me, which he did for all staff and students as well. Jefferson will not be the same without him. May he rest in power.

Mr. Hawkins was definitely the type of person that you wanted in your life. There was not a moment where he brought down the mood around his students. He always made sure that his students had a smile around him, even the kids that though that he would mess around too much, Hawkins never cared. He always radiated that vibrant energy that could light up even the worst days that you were having. We can safely say that he has impacted a lot of people during his lifetime. Hawkins was always someone I could be silly with... Whenever we passed each other in the hallways, we would pretend that we were wearing top hats and we would tip our hats to each other. Hahaha. He never thought I was weird, he just accepted me. I'm going to miss his laugh, his calm presence and the way he looked after me. He always made me feel safe and protected. I had the honor of knowing Our Now: "Heavenly Saint-Robert” for 18 years. That very first day that that call came through from his sister- I was in shock. I am still in disbelief, it does not seem real. I have been reflecting on all of my memories with him over the years -they will be etched in my heart forever. He would also make a joke out of something and if you did good he would try to award you with tickets to a basketball games & avalanche hockey game.I remember this one time I got two tickets to the hockey game and I had the time of my life thanks to Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a true icon of Jefferson. He always found a way to make each student he came in contact with feel special. He believed in our kids and helped them believe in themselves. I will miss how he also made me feel special as well. I will miss how we played in the streets of New Orleans. I will miss you Robert Hawkins.

Robert Hawkins was truly committed to his work. He gave every student everything he had to give. His smile as he greeted you in the halls or in classrooms, sometimes grinning like he just got caught doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing, will be so missed!
