This i a family who is currently at "war" with another family by the name of the Shepherdson's. A member of the Grangerford family, Buck who is about Huck's age, vowed to kill any member of the opposing family. Huck then stays with the Grangerford's, because he thinks life couldn't get better. Huck then finds Jim working as a slave on their farm. When a Shepherdson and a Grangerford run off together, all Romeo and Juliet style, it results in the death of two other Grangerfords.
