For this project, I’m highlighting the rise of OPM bands with a relaxing, pop-driven style that has become iconic in today’s Filipino music scene. Artists like Ben&Ben, Cup of Joe, and Lola Amour are loved for their ability to craft songs that are soothing yet full of emotion, reflecting the everyday experiences of Filipino youth. Their music stands out because it feels both deeply personal and universally relatable, capturing themes of love, friendship, and hope in a uniquely Filipino way. The saxophone’s warm, soulful tones play a role in many of these bands, adding to my connection with their music and inspiring me to explore similar styles.

I'm Abrienne Junne F. Capricho, and I've been deeply immersed in music as a saxophone player for the past 10 years. Playing the saxophone has not only shaped my musical tastes but has also deepened my appreciation for the distinctive rhythms and melodies of Filipino music, especially the uplifting and laid-back sounds of artists like Ben&Ben, Cup of Joe, Lola Amour, Dionela, and Visayan musicians such as Oh Caraga. Their music resonates with me for its blend of relatable storytelling and vibrant yet relaxing melodies, which brings a refreshing sense of fun to Filipino pop music culture. Beyond my love for music, I enjoy exploring new places and watching movies and series, where I often discover new songs to enjoy.
