The very first remixes that come to mind are Habits and Lights. These two specifically stand out not because they are my top two favorite remixes, but because I heard the remix before I heard the original version of the song. I heard the remixes all over the place, on YouTube, Twitter, and Vine (when that was popular). Relating it to my first point, these remixes were so beneficial to the artist. After the remixes got huge, I heard all sorts of different songs by these artists on the radio. Basically, what I am trying to say is that a remix can take an artist jump to the next level.

The very first image that pops into my mind when I think "remix" is turntables. Turntables are a very popular instrument used among DJ's and the biggest DJ's in the world make a living off of remixing songs with turntables. Furthermore, Considering this topic of remixes and marketing, "I want to discuss the question asked in the module, "In 2012, Christina Aguilera promoted her new album by organizing a remix contest for her single “Your Body.” In what ways was doing so effective marketing? In what was was it not effective?"

The first image that pops into my head relates directly to quotes number two and three. I feel like an old pocket watch represents the past and I love how the quotes express how the past is trying to hold back the future. Personally, I love the remix culture and agree with the documentary that copyright laws are the past trying the restarin the future or "Declare War." The remix culture is so beneficial to artist today but I feel like the older cultures do not want us making more money on their songs than they did decades ago. But, the remix culture has come a long way in finding other things to remix such as theme songs or different sound bites from popular TV shows, such as the how bout dat girl from Doctor Phil. Overall, remixed music will continue to be a favorite of mine and can't wait to see where it goes in the future.

I think this tactic was crazy smart! It not only gives underground artists a chance to get their music out their, but stirs up commotion on social media which ultimately leads to more streams and you guessed it, more money. Doing a remix challenge benefits Christinia in every way! She is already a superstar so she has the exposure, but getting people to listen is another challenge. By doing this challenge she boosted her interaction with her fans (which people go crazy for), allowed underground artists a chance to make a name for themselves, and obtained more exposure and probably money. It was a win win!
