Why is it there?

Most countries have differing birth rates, dependency loads, and life expectancy; this can be because of underdevelopment, poor execution of sustainable development goals like Ethiopia, more women in the workforce, a pandemic or economic struggles like Canada. Or the fall of an empire or country in the country's history with high emigration rates like Greece. These factors cause differences between countries. For Ethiopia, this means lower life expectancy, raised birth rates and high dependency loads for the younger generation. This can cause a need for better resources and a quickly growing population. For Canada, this means lowering birth rates, older people in the dependency range and high life expectancy. This may cause a lowering population and a want for more care of the aging population. Greece is similar to Canada, but it has even lower birth rates and high life expectancy,y, with a population mostly 40 and up. This may cause a quickly lowering population with a need to have more elder care.

Why do we care?

The differences between countries can tell us a lot, like how developed it is, its past wars and what steps are needed to aid in its development. For example, we can see that Ethiopia is more underdeveloped given its high birth rates, low life expectancy, and high dependency loads. This can help us understand how to help the country as well as push us to create a world where all have achieved the sustainability development goals. We can also use this to help our own country by looking at the dependency loads to see if we need to accommodate older or younger people in the future. We can also see if we will need to prepare for a lot of youth in school daycare in the coming years. This can help us better take care of our people and learn about our country and other countries, creating a more well-rounded society.
